Probably not going to look as good through Tapatalk

Some low light shots are not as in focus as I'd like...but maybe I am just too demanding. Part of the problem is that HDR mode ignores my tap-to-focus. It will ALWAYS focus on the center of the image, even if it reacts to your tap. It's annoying.

Also, illuminated signs seem to get washed out to pure white, even if I focus on them deliberately. Note the sign by the stoplight in the 2nd picture (looks like two white squares in the middle on the right).

Camera Comparisons...thought I would post some comparison shots I have found. I'll edit this as I find more.

I actually like the nexus in that comparison.

Did you see the iPhone macro shot above? Holy crap, the Nexus just kills the iPhone on macro shots. The text on that Starbucks cup is clear as can be. Click on the image to see the full version. If you look closely enough you can probably see the molecules in the paper.

After seeing all those comparisons I'm definitely happy. It may not have the fastest shutter and focus, but I'm happy .

There are some really nice shots here! I'm really happy to see that any focus issues are software side. This camera should be a respectable shooter with a bit of tweaking.

Another N5 shot

Question: is there a way to adjust the size of images taken in the camera app? I'm noticing many of the images I take in the main camera app are showing up as less than 1MB. This doesn't make sense to me given the sensor size on the camera, which is identical to that on the iPhone 5 and those images come in somewhere between 2 and 3 MBs.

Thoughts?

Open the camera, hit the setting button , open setting, more settings and it should say MP size. Make sure your on 8MP.

So what's the best way to increase the speed of the shutter.
Install a 3rd party camera. No really.

Google will probably fix the native app eventually. Who knows when that will happen though.

(remember also...you can snap pictures while taking video as well by tapping the screen, and it is VERY quick)

Messing around with some macroish shots this morning

My ginger cat. This thing is a very capable shooter with the right light, looking forward to getting some outdoor shots when the skies clear.

N5, closeup, not the best lighting. Stock camera app, no HDR or filters. No post-production
