Shipping notification....Who's first?

Here's my take:

Preorders will still get them. The phones themselves are in UPS's Louisville, KY plant. They're past US customs, and are shipping or already have shipped as of right now. What this will affect is the launch of the product and getting it on store shelves. I wouldn't be surprised to see the national launch pushed back a week or two. They might have enough right now to fill store shelves for a little while, but I'd expect that they'd want a more steady stream before they let it loose on the general public. That would explain Sprint's recent ambiguity as to the release date. Thank god I preordered mine - this is looking like one case where it really payed off.

Where exactly did you hear that?

Read through this thread, the thread on Sprint's own forums, and SprintUsers.com. Many many people are reporting they were told that by Sprint reps and Sprint reps also said it in their own forums.

I quoted and linked to one here earlier today if you want to look back through my posts.

LOL, you've got to be f'ing joking me. HTC and Sprint knew about this and still went forward?

Oh and Lovin' there's no guarantee that all pre-orders will still get there's. I ordered on the 7th and still haven't gotten a shipment confirmation. I guess "sucks to be you" is my new watch word.

Agreed. This seems like the most likely scenario.

I predict that all of us that pre-ordered thru Sprint will get theirs Wednesday or Thursday.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't Sprint's original release date for the EVO LTE supposed to be sometime in mid-June?

If so, by moving it up to May 18, it appears that they (Sprint and HTC) were trying to beat enforcement of the Apple patent infringement suit.

Thoughts?

The enforcement went into effect April 19th....

Ya, chatting with a rep right now that has "access to my order." She said that we should still expect them before or on the 18th...this is like the damn Twighlight Zone. No one knows the truth...I did find it interesting though that she did say "national launch" was on the 18th. Our status updates were change to national launch instead of May 18th. Something is going on that is for sure.

Best case scenario HTC can send out a software update and have these phones ready to go in a week or two.

Worst case scenario is this phone will take months to come out, and Sprint will go ahead and start pushing the Galaxy S III this summer instead of the EVO.

I am hoping for quick software update.

Yeah there is a number of handsets already in the states. I'm sure HTC, AT&T, and Sprint were well aware that this might be coming and got plenty of stock here in the US with possibly Sprint and AT&T providing space for the handsets, hell T-Mobile and Verizon may have helped with housing handsets. In fact I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Apple and HTC were in some type of talks up until the last day or so with Apple basically trying to extort HTC into bending to Apples demand whether it was financially or otherwise. When that failed Apple went nuke and pulled this stunt.

Really another reason to hate Apple. They think for some reason the only reason people don't use a iPhone is the existence of Android. If there was no Android I would have Windows Phone . I would never ever own a iPhone

Anybody else notice this at the top of this page in the red banner: BREAKING: Apple's patent dispute blocks HTC Android phones at the U.S. border.

The link is dead, but I'm guessing it's a place holder.

Further...the longer Sprint takes in making a public statement, the more damage will be done.

It is obvious that Apple deliberately timed this action to coincide with the shipment of the EVO LTE...causing the most manpower and public relations damage. They could have easily taken this action prior to, or immediately after, Sprint pre-sold this phone. By doing this now, Sprint/HTC is forced to make a quick settlement, or face severe loss of market position.

Beautifully played, really.
