Shipping notification....Who's first?

I dont think people are expecting them today, but for the most part they are expecting a tracking number by today since this will be going out on 2 day shipping and some indivuals might get it on Wednesday depending on how far they live from Kentucky ( warehouse).

I'm expecting people to start receiving them today. I didn't preorder so it doesn't affect me. I'm using my son's upgrade next week (that's right - he's 14 and doesn't deserve the upgrade. I pay the bill, so I deserve EVERY upgrade!)

But Sprint has always shipped overnight whenever I have gotten a device from them, new or replacement. I believe they ship Next Day Air - Saver, which just guarantees delivery sometime in the afternoon. But if they were shipping individual phones last night then I'm sure people will have them starting today. I have a friend who works @ UPS and he told me this morning after he got off work (he works 6AM - 6PM) that there were tons of boxes coming from the Sprint facility in KY this morning to Ontario, which is the main distribution hub for UPS in SoCal. I don't know if those were for customers or stores or 3rd party retailers and I wouldn't ask because I know he wouldn't tell me. But I know they started arriving in SoCal this morning.

I call foul here, weight is off, should be less than a pound...

the gnex shipped at 0.7lbs for 'reference' (pun intended)

My UPS label MyChoice update shows 3 lbs too, so it could be true.

Also I was able to find his actual tracking order on UPS website and it's legit as far as there being a package. If it's the EVO that's another story. Guess we'll see when he uploads his pic.

"HTC" is not a reference for the tracked label that I have, so not sure how there are different types of shipments.

We know his zipcode, but not where he lives. That could be tricky to find the exact address. hehe

ive never had anything held up because its ahead of schedule. ive never even heard of that. when something comes in the mail their job is to just move it along. ive ordered items and had them sent 2-day and have gotten them the next day plenty of times. it just depends how far the package has to go. if its a really short distance, it takes less time. but they arent gonna take a package thats early and set it on a shelf until the next day...

Believe me, I'm not here trying to troll.

I will be here apologizing if it is not my phone, just posting what I found.

I just went to my UPS my choice account, put HTC as the reference with country and zip code, and it gives me a tracking number.

Searching by EVO, HTC EVO, sprint, my sprint account # return no results.

So again, just posting what I know from what I am able to find. I will definitely post pics if is the phone, and smash my keyboard if it is not.

Ok - he didn't tell me if these were for stores or individuals. He didn't even tell me that they were EVOs. He just told me they were getting a slew of packages last night and this morning. More than normal. Exponentially more. I am putting 2 and 2 together myself. I would never ask him for specifics because I know he can't give them to me. It would make things awkward, like asking if I could date his daughter when she turns 18 in a couple of years because "you know she's gonna' be hot!"

And I have received countless overnight packages from Sprint over the years. I have gotten tracking emails ahead of delivery twice. Every other time I have received the package first and gotten the tracking info from Sprint the next day. And the two times I got the tracking info ahead of time, it was actually sent the same day I got the delivery. I'm sure many people here can confirm the same thing.

And for the record, my friend's daughter already graduated college. And she's not that hot. I just realized how creepy that made-up quote sounded.

In the mail, yes, but I think UPS and FedEx make their money by managing capacity to ensure they deliver as close to the promise date as possible; why would people pay for overnight if they knew that ground would get there just as quickly?

It also gives them breathing room to delay the package as needed to prioritize something that they got paid extra to deliver early.

I'm not saying they'd look at the package and drive past your house because it wasn't due until tomorrow but they'd DEFINITELY bump the package off the truck in favor of something else that was paid to go priority.

I think their business model is based on forecasting demand so that they always meet their delivery promise without EVER missing the deadline and only occasionally/randomly exceed the promise date.

no i also meant ups. and paying less for ground just says that you will get it no later than 5-7 days. paying extra for 2-day or overnight just guarantees that it will take no longer than what you pay for. if it gets there sooner then its just a bonus. but they wont hold anything up because its early...

You are 1000% percent correct. I have tracked packages before and seen them sitting at the facility near my house for two days. They deliver it by the deadline, but not earlier. And I have had packages arrive a day early as well. If there's room on the truck and time in the schedule, they'll deliver early.

BUT... if you have the tracking info and see that your package is at your local center but not out for delivery, you can take your ID and tracking # in and pick it up since it's just there. I've done that, too.
