Sholes 2.0.5 is here.

I just down loaded sholes 2.0.5 yesterday and its awesome. Is there a way to block the 2.1 update or do I just ignore it ? Thanks ....

well, after going past 800MHz, to 1000MHz, I power cycle my phone, and get force closes on startup. I tried it 3 times, and as soon as it started on the home screen, I got a force close. Then put it back at 800MHz, rebooted, no force close, so 800 it is, for me.

I have tried using the SMUPdater, the lastest from sholes.info to put the custom rom on my droid. The droid roots fine, but during the next step after reseting and after the confirmation click throughs for reflashing the recovery, i get the following error:

"An error has occured"
mtd: not writing bad block at 0x001e0000

If I reset to recovery mode after the root I do see the golden android figure and the version appears to be updated. But if I return to SMUpdater the same issue arises.

I have installed no custom roms prior to this so it's a clean droid. Also if I attempt to do it again without rebooting it just gets stuck in a loop asking if i'm sure I want to flash. I'm able to back out of either with no problems and the droid continues to work in what appears to be normal. Any suggestions?

I have unrooted and had a clean/reset droid, re-downloaded the updater, and had the same result.

Thanks fellas for any help you can provide.

If no other options, where are the files to install SholesMod manually?

What recovery image do you have and are you already rooted but it wont install their rom

And if you have the recovery image just download any rom put it on your sdcard in the nandroid folder and install it in recovery
If that doesn't work get droid root. Pro from the market if you root and that will install what you need

A stupid question probably, but lets say I rooted w/ sholes (or whomever), will the 2.1 pushed upgrade still appear on my phone when it eventually comes? And pressing "Install" for that will 1) download the upgrade, and 2) install it to my phone, putting it back to stock, removing root, its privleges, and everything I installed while in root? Basically I do not need to go back to another state (like a recovery image) to get and install this update?

If your phone doesn't block it then you can download it but when in recovery you have to allow it to install

I read that SirPsychoS' recovery 0.99.2 will block the OTA update.

No it doesn't block them it blocks them from being installed that's why when you try and flash an update.zip you have to first allow it

You contradicted yourself in this statement. If it blocks it from being installed, it will block the OTA update from your device...

No you can download the update but when it goes to install it blocks that. But if you hit allow in recovery it will install it.

But if you want the update without a hitch just get rid of that recovery image and use yhour old one

Possibly I doubt sholes would leave it as is.
Try setcpu that's the one that has autodetect for overclock

That is correct. Just click auto. You can change it if you wish to lower the overclock (if it includes other kernels)
