Should I bother getting a T-Bolt at this point?

im not going to say that $300 is cheap, but you probably pay >=$80/month per smartphone. that's less than 4 months of service and you'll be in the contract for 2 years. the phone is already 10 months old and HTC has released at least 3 major/flagship phones since then b/w verizon and att. i dont see it's support going much further than gingerbread.

paying $300 up front for a galaxy Nexus vs $100 (on sale) for a TB is basically like paying an extra $8.33/mo over the life of your contract. totally and utterly worth it IMO no matter what you plan to use it for.

I got mine just before Christmas, I love it! I will eventually root it but just a little nervous. Go for it , look on amazon, it may be cheaper than verizon, I paid $69 for mine(at Verizon), got the rezound battery and a case, for less than $115.

What is an upgrade even worth? Mine comes up on the 15th. Does that mean I'll get credit towards something new?

It lets you get a phone at a much lower price. The prices you see advertised for phones are for new customers or customers that are elligible for an upgrade. Most of the good phones are about $600 if you aren't a new customer or elligible for an upgrade.

New lines sometimes will get a lower price than upgrade lines too. I got my Rezound for $50 on upgrade, but had I gotten a new line, I could have gotten it for a penny.

Yeah I don't know why I asked about the upgrade thing. For some reason I was thinking it was something other than what I was seeing on the website.

I saw the Rezound for $199. Very tempting.

I got mine from Best Buy a couple of months ago for $50 and I like their insurance package better than Verizon's. I'd check them out.

Some great replies here and I have a lot to consider.

I REALLY need to get a phone ASAP because this Eris is basically toast. Even if it worked perfectly I'd hate it. My official upgrade date is 1-15 and my budget does not allow for anything over $100 right now. It seems to me that a TB is something I can be happy with but I do like the idea of a dual core.

And honestly, I will probably end up rooting whatever I buy. I'll just come here for help first and see what I need to do.

Thanks again for the help. You guys are awesome.:)

I agree with the last paragrah of ASTRODROID above posted.

If you are looking for a good solid 4g phone, the TBolt is definately the way to go. Considering your budget of $100, the TBolt is in my opinion really your only choice...well, maybe the Rezound, but that is a little more $$.

The Tbolt is a different expeerience for every user. At different times I sue it heavily for different things. Lately I have been using it for Geo-Caching (sister got me into it) and of course when I jog I use SportyPal and Endomondo. I stream rarely so that isn't an issue.

Definately you are going to want to ROOT and load a custom ROM...take my word for it....you will thank us all.

I pulled the trigger and bought a TB today. Went to Best Buy and took the $50 deal. I am very happy with it.

When I get some time I will look into how to root it and all that.

Thanks again for all of the opinions and advice. It's truly appreciated.
