Should I buy Google Nexus 6P even though it seems to have a few issues?

I generally love my 6P, but saying there are no issues with it is absurd.

There are not "no issues". Never. With no phone.
But I have less issues with this phone, even with Nougat on it, than I had with any other phone, maybe except my WebOS devices and the Nexus 5. The latter is en par with the 6P

I can't get my Bluetooth to connect properly on multiple cars and devices, and have tried everything including a full factory reset.

I am using it without ANY problem whatsoever with my blue&me car system as well as with my LG Urbane smartwatch and some other devices. Bluetooth and Wifi are always on and I use it a lot. No problems whatsoever.

I may need to sell it and get something else if the 7.1.1 update doesn't fix it. Oh, and unresponsive, terrible support from Google. Other than that (and a very mediocre battery), I really like the phone.

Problems with connectivity AND a bad battery usage sounds like a rogue app to me. Sorry, it just does.
And YES you can read a lot of bad things about the 6P. As you can with every other device including the oh so holy iPhones (I know, because I had two of those, too). Why? Because people tend to post in forums only, if there is a problem. If everything is nice and cozy, I don't see a reason to post this here.

I am no fanboy and have owned a lot of devices in my time, running WinMobile, WebOS, iOS and now Android. For me, the 6P is a very sound device. For others not so. So is the world. What fits one doesn't have to fit another...

my 2 cents

I've had mine for a couple to three months now and I even ran the 7.1 beta for a while too. I'm back to 7.0 but as far as issues, I haven't had any really at all. I think the 6p personally is probably one of the best overall devices on the market in reflection of its retail selling price. In fact I haven't seen or owned another device that was flagship specs for $399. I think you will not regret it in the least. You save at least $300 compared to all other flagships, and the 6p can compete with all of them any day. After I had an opportunity to mess with the phone I knew then it was a device I would use and like big time. I don't plan on getting mine go and I go through tons of phones just bc I like trying different devices. The 6p has made me stop and enjoy for a while. Smooth software interface. If it took a hit at all it maybe it's size as 5.7 is rather large. Thats why I keep two phones. One larger 6p and one a 5 inch which is a Sony Xperia X. I like at least to have a phone I can throw in my pocket and not be too large. If the size doesn't bother you, hsnds down get the 6p while they are still available. It's one of the best phones I've ever tried or owned and I've been through a lot of them over the past year plus.

Great post! :)

Hi,
I want to buy Huawei Google Nexus 6P. However, I have recently read a lot of negative comments about Nexus 6P regarding its bluetooth & wifi connectivity issues, acute battery drain issues, microphone issues during phone calls, etc. These issues have mostly arisen after updating from Android 6.0 Marshmallow version. Can you all please advice me if I should still buy Nexus 6P?
Thank you all for your time in advance :)
This is the best smartphone I've ever owned hands down.

There's no major flaw. Bluetooth does sometimes behave oddly, but the phone restarts quickly and solves the issue.

Every phone I've had previously the Galaxy S3, the Moto X, and 2 Nexus 6s all had flaws that were so major that I always felt I had to find something better. With this phone, I don't really have the urge to get anything else at the moment. All issues are minor and to be expected. A large percentage of the time it just works. I think you'll be happy with it and you'd be getting something that still handles an overwhelming amount of tasks very well for a good price.

I had reservations before purchasing it due to my uncertainty about Huawei's hardware quality. But wanting to stick with pure Android, I took the leap of faith and am very happy I did. Had I known what a great phone it was, I'd have never bought a second Nexus 6.

I have had one since a month after it came out. And I tend to get inexpensive new or used phones. And I have to say this phone is the best for the bang for the buck. I probably wouldn't get it for the full $500 as of today, and not sure if they will be discounted any time soon again.

Some issues:
The mic. I think this may have to do with the cases. I bought the Speck case from google and I think it doesn't give the mic enough space. Sometimes if I take the case off, the mic quality is better. But its hit/miss sometimes.

The bluetooth. For some reason, I feel my BT headphones easily lose connection when I am at the gym, in particular when a metal part like a dumbell is exactly in between the headphones and phones. This is also hit or miss.

But the picture quality and performance overall makes me happy with the purchase. I think with any phone, you will find some flaws but other areas make up for it.

My issues were mostly related to beta build software, and even those issues were very minor. Using non beta I have zero problems with my 6P. I never experienced any Bluetooth issues, I've used it with my Sony BT headphones and Bose sound wave with never any problems. I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone, it's the best Android I've ever used and have no intention of changing until maybe next year when pixel 2 is out.

I have the 6P, and it works great. Anyway, i'm a retired Gov't. employee, and i can't afford the Pixel. The truth is that i wouldn't buy it at that price, even if i were a millionaire. The next Pixel will probably cost $1,000.00. Keep buying them folks, and the price will keep going up and up.:p

They have forever killed the Nexus line of a value flagship at this price. The 6p is the last top of the line phone that we will see starting at $399. That is a shame. Money, power and greed always seems to bare it's teeth in all things that are good. I'm glad I have one and will use it as long as I can. One post said keep buying them and the price will just keep increasing. He or she is right. Demand equals inflation. Economics 101. Sadly the 6p will go down as the best phone for the price ever.

I like mine.

Would I buy one today as opposed to the rest.. Yup.

Mine is a great phone and I don't have any of the issues that some of the earlier ones seem to be plagued with.

I've had my 6P since April. This is my experience with it, if you're curious.

I'm usually someone who likes to "tinker" with things - see how they work, see if I can make it work more to my liking, just try random things and see what happens. I'm an IT admin so I'm pretty confident in my ability to fix anything I break, so I tend to go a bit overboard sometimes (rooting/flashing new ROMs, playing with hardware governors, power settings, device settings, etc). Since I've bought the 6P, I've felt no need to tinker whatsoever. The only thing I've done is sign up for the Developer Preview of Android Nougat (signed up when DP4 was released).

I've not had the bluetooth issues that others have complained about, but my BT use is limited to a car (whose settings I've never changed) and a pair of BT headphones for the commute to work. Both have excellent sound quality and no hiccups or issues of any kind.

I'm on WiFi just about all day long, both in the office and at home, and in some other random places as well (train stations, restaurants, etc). Some free public wifi hotspots have been iffy, namely the Xfinity Hotspots in Center City Philadelphia, but that's mostly due to having a lot of people connected at once and a complete lack of support by Comcast/Xfinity. Any hotspot which requires me to sign in has never given me an issue.

I have access to a charger all day at my office, and I sometimes play games which drain the battery much faster than normal (Plague Inc for example) so my battery use is not standard, but I can't say I'm upset with the battery life, and it's never died on me thus far.

As far as whether or not you should buy it, well...this is a 6P forum so I can imagine most users will tell you to go for it. You'd get the same if you posted in the S7 forum or an iPhone forum. Ultimately it's up to what you want and what you need and how much you're willing to pay for it. To me, the 6P is a no-brainer. For you it may not be such an obvious choice. But I can safely say that if you'd like a phone with front-facing stereo speakers (excellent audio quality, too), reliable security updates, a large screen, premium aluminum build, the latest version of Android, excellent hardware specs, great camera, and a good community that's happy to help you if any issues or questions do arise, you can't go wrong with the Nexus 6P.

I have been using the 6P since January with Project Fi service from Google and so far have had no problems . In fact I just convinced my wife to switch to it as well. Highly recommend the phone. Battery use is directly proportional to the amount of screen time. I can go days with no use where the battery is still over 60% unused and on heavy use days, I need to charge it with my wall charger at work.

I've had my 6P for a couple months, and like may other 6P users, I'm loving it! It's a fantastic phone at a reasonable price, what more would you want!?
