Should I buy htc 10 or else samsung galaxy s7?

HTC10- solid build quality, better battery life, better audio, and the haptic feedback and UI just feels better to me.

Unless your priority is the camera, the HTC10 was a hair slower than my S6 to open and focus- and the S6 missed focus a lot less. S6 was sharper 90% of the time Whatever oleophobic coating they used on the HTC is not as good as the Samsung and I was constantly getting smudges on the lens that created lens flare. I assume the S7 widens that gap.
I'm not convinced the camera is significantly under the s7 edge. I have both phones and tomorrow will do some test shots for myself to help me decide.

Snapping Phoenix just hates Samsung so he is trying so hard to convince people not to buy Samsung products. I love my Samsung s7e its by far the best phone out. I can see why Samsung outsells any phone out including iPhone.

I dislike Samsung also. But Ill admit the S7 is by far the best galaxy phone and the first one I actually didnt mind using. At the same time, it doesnt do anything better than my 10 for what I used a phone for and need. That doesnt mean its a bad phone by any means, just not for me.

I went through the same debate and ended up with the S7, not because I thought it was a better phone, but because I was able to get a BOGO Free deal. When I tested both in the store the 10 was a lot closer to a Nexus experience, but coming from a Note 4 the S7 seemed mostly familiar. If you want accessory support, I'd go with the S7, but if you want paired down software I'd go with the 10. Just my two cents.

I had a htc 10 and exchanged it for an s7 edge because the Sprint 10 doesn't have wifi calling. I'm stuck with the s7 now as I can't exchange anymore but I preferred the 10. The S7 isn't slow by any means, but the 10 just felt snappier then the s7 to me. Both are very capable and you need to see for yourself on what features you need. The s7 edge drives me crazy! It gets me so frustrated by my miss touches on the sides or palm rejection. I have big hands and even with a case have some issues. Wish they had a bigger non edge model

I do agree that the 10 feels snappier. Especially when you first start up the phone.

I say get the phone that feels the best, works the best, and looks the best in your opinion. Get the one that you are going to be happy with in the long run. Read the opinions, read the reviews, and then chose the one that works best for you.

I have both as well, and I much prefer htc as a whole (I'm even in htc elevate) but I can comfortably say that the s7 edge exynos absolutely trumps the HTC. Screen, battery, camera, ip rating, wireless charging are all better on the exynos. I've used the us version of the s7 edge and battery was no where near the exynos. If your in that market that offers them, or your able to get an exynos s7 edge, I would highly recommend that over the HTC. Unfortunately.

I had the same problem deciding. It came down to 2 things.

First, I am a carpenter and my phones take a beating. I watched a youtube video that compared the two with drop tests. The Galaxy was dead after 4 or so drops, the HTC went in to the 30's (33 or so IIRC) that was the ultimate deciding factor for me.

Second, I have been using the HTC Evo3d since the day it came out (5 years?). And it still was flawless, worked perfect. Only reason I replaced it was I was starting to get nags about upgrading from my bank, my business credit card reader, etc. Android 4.0.x that it had just wasn't up to snuff anymore. I did replace the battery once in it's life, but that is it. So I am an HTC fan.

I got attracted to HTC 10 because of its metal unibody build. S7E seems to be prone to scratch or shatter, isn't that a big advantage of HTC 10 over S7E? How come nobody in this thread seems to mention that?

Is HTC 10 just as easy to scratch or shatter so you have to put a case around it anyway?

Depends what colour, I find the Carbon grey coating gets scratched/comes off a bit too easy for my liking without any obvious explanations.

Though just ordered a clear slickwraps skin for it, so I can still use it naked and appreciate the beauty lol of it whilst providing some protection for day to day wear and tear.

In that case, S7E can be protected too from scratches. So I guess the advantage of HTC 10 in this aspect is reduced to be less shatter proof.... Still, that 's not something should be easily ignored when comparing devices.

I think the edge on S7E is a double edged sword, it adds to the beauty of the design, but weakens the build and adds the inconvenience or even annoyance in the "holdability".

So in terms of industrial design, HTC 10 is a win for me.

Almost if not all reviews from any publication puts the s7 over the htc 10. Don't put too much weight on people that have had a phone for a week

The S7 isn't the only option with water proofing, the Sony X performance when it is available will have water proofing too.

Yeah I'd be interested in seeing the results. I know the S6 is 16mp and both the 10 and the S7 are 12mp. The extra pixels and extra sharpening from the S6 looked sharper to me. The few times the 10 beat the S6 was in low light, (less noise, better WB and color) but that's when it was most likely to have a hard time focusing. The S6's face detection is 50%(?) faster than HTCs. This is reviewing pics side-by-side on a 27" monitor, on the phone 95% of the photos looked identical.

I'm not hating, I'm answering OP's question based on my personal opinion and past experience.

I know a LOT of people with S6 and Note 5 who complain about other phones and yet they can barely do stuff with theirs because of lag. And never coming updates.

Plus, I've had one of those ***famous*** Samsung and it was a lagfest everytime I turned it on, no matter how often I factory reset it, cleared the cache and such.

Do they have qualities? Yup. But they are overshadowed by the not-so-awesome things happening.

Again, that's your opinion. My opinion is I don't have any of those issues.

I love both phones but S7 edge is my choice. My wife has the S7. If you are on AT&T look at the S7 active..beast of a phone if you need durability.
Can't beat the S7 camera, water resistant also. I don't know what people are complaining about battery life for. We both have excellent battery life. If you don't use maps that much turn location off and you will see a huge jump...google tracks everything draining battery.

Well I own both. My work gave me the choice of S7e or the iPhone 6s. Well I'm an Android guy, so I took the Verizon branded S7e. My personal is the unlocked 10, using it on T-Mobile. The only thing I feel the S7e has over the 10 is the screen. And even at that, the touch responsiveness of the 10 makes the S7e's usability seem second rate. Not to mention the TW ui is still garbage(say whatever you want, use a REAL stock launcher, then tell me TW is still "OK"). Now I admit that I'm an HTC fanboy. Read my user name. I've owned all HTC devices, besides the Xperia TL and the short lived time I had with the S6e( first time I tried to keep a phone for one spec: the camera: couldn't do it, everything else about the phone was garbage to me). The only tablets I've owned have been Nexus(OG 7 and the 9). That being said, I can't stand the S7e. Even after installing google now launcher, I still have to deal with TW everywhere else. The camera is on par with the 10 and the screen is only better because it's SAMOLED. That's really all it has going for it. And argue the IP rating all you want, I'm careful with my phones and have taken every HTC device I've owned to the pool and the beach, I've gotten it wet, but never wanted to take a picture underwater. HTC has way more to offer, of course, in my opinion.
