Should I buy htc 10 or else samsung galaxy s7?

I have both as well and as nice as the 10 is, I just can't see a reason to go with it over the S7. The screen isn't as nice (and I prefer LCD over AMOLED). It's not any faster (I've had my S7 since launch and it still does not lag like all the TW haters claim). It feels better naked b/c of the aluminum back rather than the fingerprint-happy glass on the S7, but for me that's about the only positive - and I feel the need to use a case anyway because of the protruding camera. The speaker on the 10 is better than the S7, but not that much (like the M8/M9 were). The S7, for me, is a better size as well. Battery life on both is comparable. And the S7 is water/dust resistant with a better camera.

Both great phones, I just don't see any pragmatic reason, besides simple personal preference, to go with the 10 over the S7.
I have both too and although I have a preference I'm reluctant to State it because quite honestly they are both great phones and I love them both

I feel the exact same way, but I prefer the 10, just does everything I need better. Its the nice part of Android, we have choices.

What kind of choices do we have to have smart watches connected to M10. I currently have Gear fit(S5). I was wondering if there are any smart watches/health trackers (combo) for M10.

it's not called the M10, HTC dropped the M from the model it's the HTC 10!

This is one of the things making me reconsider my 10, I just prefer the size of the S7. Everytime I hold my 10 I just I wish it was a little smaller. For me 6S - S7 size is perfect.

I prefer metal over glass, glass back is a little worrying and annoying for me in terms of fingerprints and potential micro scratches especially.

Camera wise admitedly I dont use the camera much and probably use the front camera more than rear. I dislike the way Samsungs photos are always oversharpened, I find it really ugly yet reviewers seem to love it. And dont like Samsungs oversoftening on the front camera, it lacks detail from what I can see especially in lower light where it seems smugdy from photos online. HTC 10's isn't detail rich either but its better than S7's.

Battery life on the 10 isn't impressing me too much heard good things about S7

Decisions, S7 seems decent.

I think hardware wise the 10 will serve better in the long run. Though it's not a good comparison and Samsung phones have changed but the M8 and M7 run just as fast today as they did the first day. The S4 and S5 well... you know. The experience with the 10 will MOST DEFINITELY stay the same for at least 3 years. We don't know about the S7.

And I have the S7. Only because of the camera. If you don't use it that much then I think the 10 would be a better choice. And it's not only about the sharpening or over sharpening it's mostly about the dynamic range, focus speeds and accurate colors for me in the camera department.

Hear you about the hardware, but I've never had a Samsung and this is my first HTC :P.
Im willing to dip in touchwiz sauce lol
I know its only about sharpening but its definitely one of those things that stand out to me, can always tell when a photos taken by a Samsung lol, I just prefer the slightly softer photo.

But I'll continue using the 10 for the next few days see how battery life and see If I can get used to the size. I came from a 4.5" phone, so was used to easily manuvering the phone around my hand. 10's a bit too wide and tall for my overall liking, it can be used in one hand but not as easily as say my previous phone or S7 when I handled it.

Keeping an eye on battery as well, as previously I've only been getting 3.5 Hours SOT average doing just web browsing and social media with some soundcloud. Not particularly fantastic imo, considering HTC talking up their battery.

I think you'll be happy with either one man :) they're both good phones. I just wish my S7 ran sense and had a metal back :p

Im in exactly the same boat as the OP..

S7 edge or 10.. Iam a media lover though.. Camera and Audio for me.. and from what Ive seen of the 10.. it looks like HTC have finally done it with the camera.. It looks great.. and with a full manual mode as well.

Whats urging me to the 10 is here in the UK... the 10 is only £24 a month on Vodaphone (£130 upfront though) from Carphone, so its unbranded as well, but the S7 edge is so darn expensive.. upfront cost and high monthly.. just because its a Samsung.

Whats making me hesitatnt though is that The edge screen is stunning... the desktop almost seems to float on the glass, but the 10, like the M9 and M8 has quite a bland UI.. so Im kinda stuck.

But i know that the difference between the edge camera and the 10 camera is so small now, its not even an issue..

Most people should just play with both and pick the one they like the most.

If I were to pick the S7 Edge, I would wait to buy one for about a month, there are going to be a ton of them on Swappa as soon as the Note 7 is announced, and if you have an S7 Edge and are thinking about the Note 7 or HTC 10, I would dump it before the value plummets.

Exactly what I did.. and have been for WEEKS.. hehe... anyway, In the end, it wasnt about the cash.. I finally went for the 10... mainly for the great Audio, camera and the fact that I dislike the childish look of TW, but the thought of sticking NOVA on a brand new S7 edge, just defeated the purpose of having a shiny new phone..

Exactly my reason for picking up the 10... Im already seeing dozens of S7 edge and S6.Edge in CEX, Grainger Games and Game, plus now that the UK is no longer part of the EU anymore.. I bought my 10 today.. because over the months who knows what the rise of inflation and the de-value of the pound will do to new contracts... they;ll; rocket probaby

You're going to love the screen on the Galaxy S7 and the camera. Day to day performance though is going to make you reconsider. The HTC 10 is a solid phone in just about every respect. Great standby time, great battery life, lovely display, great build quality, snappy well optimized OS. Furhter, I think the HTC 10 will stand up better over time. If Sense bores you (and I can't image why with the great theme store), then you can add a launcher because it's an Android phone.

Hi I have been using s7 edge for 2 months now and my wife is using s6 edge from past 1 year. There is no lag at all. I have iPhone 6s as well which some times stutter but with s7 that has not been the case. I am using nova launcher on my phone. Everything flows on this screen though there are accidental touches on screen which are now far less and in between then initially when I bought this phone. Scrolling on s7 edge is little wobbly on Internet which might get fixed with update. To tell you the truth I used to hate Samsung till S6edge was launched as I used to feel there all handsets look same and get slow over time but that's not the case now. Owning an s7 is like owning a Ferrari of smartphones where looks are concerned. I went in a store and played with htc 10 carbon black in store today as I too was confused. It feels sturdy but i think it looks like all the other phones when seen from front. More like its lexus of smartphones. I like silver phone with black front in pics but that's not available. When I compared it with s7 camera focus is little slow. Screen is almost on par with s7 though I like colors of s7 more. Htc 10 feels little faster then s7 though when you keep it side by side and open apps it takes same time. Audio is best part of htc 10. I didn't buy Coz I would have to pay almost equivalent of 150$ in India with my s7 edge or iPhone 6s 64gb. I am waiting for someone to sell his phone Coz then I will get almost 30$ along with any of my phone on exchange. Anyways for camera, looks and waterproofing(yes it matters to me)s7 edge, for Jack of all trades master of one (audio) and for some people design too htc 10
Can't go wrong with any.

I own both the HTC 10 and Galaxy S7 and use them both. Later this week I will have a Sony X Performance to compare to also.

As far as the 10 vs S7. They are both great phones. It really depends on how you rank your priorities on what is most important to you in a phone.

Some thoughts based on owning both:

S7 camera is better than the 10. The 10 is no slouch though and is better than most other mobile cameras. The S7 cameria is just better in my opinion but not by a ton.

I like the S7 screen a little better. I am a sucker for the richness of an OLED screen. The 10's screen is very good also and I would be happy with either screen...just like the pop of the oled better personally.

The fingerprint reader on the 10 is incredible and toasts the S7 fingerprint reader. Not even close on this one, the HTC 10 is that much better. I'm guessing this might have to do with the fact that the 10's reader is actually not a button....either way it crushes the S7 in this capacity.

I find the HTC 10 runs much smoother than the S7. Might be the touchwiz UI or something but scrolling, app opening and pretty much all other things seem to be faster and smoother on the 10. Personally I like the fact that the 10 is not heavy on UI changes from HTC. I will say that this comparison is the stock touchwiz vs stock HTC UI. I know you can "speed up" the S7 responsiveness with things like Nova launcher but I think a stock vs stock is the right comparison personally. I also really like the blinkfeed(?) on the 10.

Battery wise in my experience they are both good but the 10 is a little better for me in real world application. Both are good though.

For me personally the fact that there is none of the AT&T bloatware or other junk on the 10 is great also.

Honestly both phones are great and most people would be happy with either one.....again just depends on what's important to you.

Thats what I'm gonna do probably

Plan to order a S7 next week and use for a week, gonna be out of pocket a couple hundred £ for a week or so but Amazon are good with returns :D

If you ask on an HTC forum then you know what you'll get, if you do the same on the Samsung forum then you'll also know what you'll get, so... best thing for you is to try to find a store that have both and try them as long as they allow you and decide for yourself.

I have the HTC 10 and the S7 edge and while the HTC 10 is the best phone HTC has ever done, for me the S7 edge is the best phone I've owned and of course the best one available right now, but if you compare it with the S7 and not interested on the edge, then it's a lot closer for the HTC 10, but for me the S7 still contains the best all around package, the HTC 10 for Sound, the S7/S7 edge for everything else, including Skin, yes, you hear that right, I really don't like Sense at all, a lot of missing features (good features not gimmicks) when you come from a Samsung flagship. The HTC 10 has a great build, its aluminum material is top notch but that is just pure preference, some don't like aluminum phones, some don't like glass back phones, I'm good with both builds, the HTC 10 a lot better avoiding fingerprints on all the phone.

I'll keep both and I switch between them every 5-7 days so I have the best of both worlds.

Exactly the same status. I have both and switch between them. Like having 2 kids. Love em both.

I would wait now and take a look at the HTC Nexus phones when announced or go for the Moto Z (Z Force looks like the one).

Samsung are halfway through their life cycle with the S7 and I think there will also be better than the 10 this year too.
