Should I get an Evo or Epic

Saying one screen is better than another - be it Evo, Epic, or even iPhone is a relative thing highly based on your personal preference. The smaller screens have higher pixel density, the larger screens have more real estate making it easier to see. The Epic and iPhone do well inside, the Evo outside. Some people think Epic is too fark, others Evo too washed out.

UIs are also highly personal, again regardless of whether you like Touchwiz, Sense, or iOS. Try them out, they all have their fan boys for a reason.

Bronxdroid please take note that you are asking this question on an evo4g fotum, so what do you think your answer will most likely be?
Of course. I think the OP should ask this question in the EVO forum not to get an unbiased opinion but rather to see why people who tried both preferred the EVO. Then he/she should ask the same question in the Epic forum, to see why people who tried both preferred the Epic. Then he/she can make an informed choice as to which best meets his/her preferences.

just my 2 cents if anybody else in future runs across this post.

I have both phones on my account. I have Evo rooted and moded and use it for tons of things... and got my girlfriend the Epic.

We both use it heavily for texting since she is Deaf. And she playes games sometimes. But The Epic has alot of bugs that piss me off cause she ends up complaining to me about it. It freezes all the time and the home buttons on the bottom dont work all the time, even if you press them hard, and the screen stops responding to touch. It freezes enough to actually tell people all the time not to get the phone. We have to take the battery out all the time to fix it. Also the phone gets VERY hot even just sitting there charging. And for some reason when its does charging it says "done charging, please unplug" like as if it can not regulate itself or something. Another thing to point out is that it still can't even support Froyo fully, which means when Gingerbread rolls out it will either be a long time to support that, or never maybe.

Also I don't like the screen on the epic. It seems like the screen is pushed back inside the phone, where the epic screen is right in front of you or something. But the epic screen does seem to be slightly more sensitive though.

To me, the only real "advantage" anybody could argue is the keyboard, but to me that is a disadvantage ....

Thanks guys. My Evo arrived last week and I'm loving this phone. Its way faster then my Samsung Moment which had a 800mhz processor. I can never trust another Samsung Phone again. So far I'm happy with my Evo and hopefully we be pleased until next year. Most likely this will be my last android phone and I will probably go to Windows phone 7 when that arrives on Sprint. Evo is a beast though. I was playing with my Evo on the subway, and I had two commuters on either side who was playing around with thier iphone 4s and both where looking at my EVO 4g like wow huge screen and the best part is when in the subway I get phone calls while im underground and that Impressed some people on the train, to bad thier blackberries and iphones ATAT cant do that.

Similar boat...

Coming from the HTC Hero...

I was planning to get the Epic due to reviews touting the great pictures/videos it took (low light and no-stutter video)... I was also thinking about trying out a physical keyboard for the first time...

But after playing around with the Epic at BB a few times, I didn't like the build quality and the screen's bluish tint. Additionally, HTC Sense seemed more my style than TouchWiz.

I started looking at the Evo, even though I considered it to be HUGE compared to the Epic...

Hmmm... I thought: a larger, faster, and better version of the Hero!

I'm glad I chose the Evo! In the back of my mind, I knew that the physical keyboard would be more of a hindrance than a plus for me...

I'm doing more on the Evo than on my computer!

I'm definitely going to opt for the Evo 4G (upon my upgrade). I know a few people with the HTC Evo 4G and all of them are very satisfied with this smartphone.

I generally believe that this is the best smartphone on the market (and yes, even better than Apple mighty wonder - iPhone 4).

I have an evo and my wife just got an epic yesterday, they both have their ups and downs, the screen seems sharper on her epic for sure, my evo feels more solid though. I do like that the epic has the physical keyboard for those times when you would like a physical kb. the wifi on the epic is better compared to my evo too. overall Id have to say I prefer my evo to the epic
