Here are some side by side comparisons of the V30 and Pixel 2 XL, both shot in full auto with auto HDR. You can scroll left to right to see both photos of the same compositions - V30 on left, Pixel 2 XL on right.

You can see the Pixel consistently outperforms the V30. But I am surprised by how close it is. The V30 holds its own quite well going against the class leader, considering it has a whole another dimension to its photography with its wide angle. Pixel 2 shines more in bright outdoors with its HDR processing; well-lit indoor shots are even closer between the two.

really nice comparison!
its very close.. but yea the pixel is slightly better. V30 continually blows out the whites while the pixel shows more dynamic range.

Do you have any low light/night shots to compare?
Not yet but I'll do some low light.

LGs have never been good auto shooters. It's manual controls and post processing in light room where lg sensors typically shine. Considering that the pixel is the best out of the box auto shooter on the planet, I think the LG compares very favorably.

I'll also do a comparison with my note 8. The one thing I'm not a huge fan of with the pixel shots is the relatively high level of noise, particularly indoors.

Guys don't forget to post some videos as well. The audio capture is so much better than the competition. The Pixel 2 probably has the smoothest OIS but the audio capture is trash. I don't know how anyone is going to get over the audio part. But as no one here is posting any videos I feel this forum needs me.

Lol Jeremiah has went to the dark side: the very tempting, had me thinking about it as well dark side that is the Google Pixel 2 XL. But as soon as I get a few more pressing things taken care of, I'll be here.

Here's a few. Shot with the ported Google hdr+ camera app and edited slightly in lightroom. Juan Bagnell hit the nail on the head in his real camera review of the V30 - the V30 is not a great auto shooter. With just a bit of tweaking and patience in post processing, it produces very good photos.
