So my bill was due so I thought I'd pay it in the store. Apparently they don't accept checks in store, so the rep at the desk told me to use the my verizon app. Of course I don't have it (I'm on super clean 2.8 with steal blue theme) so I downloaded it. Like an idiot I had my phone on the counter and dropped down my notification bar to click on the app when she grabbed my hand and said"oh that's cool, how did you get that little android guy on your notification bar?" I just smiled and said its a secret. Then she looked at my notification bar with all the fancy blue stuff and said so what did you like unlock your phone or something. I said that would be crazy, I don't know how to do that, I thought that's how they all
Looked. She knew I was full of **** and gave me a lecture about warranty this and warranty that. I said it was completely worth it. Look at my phone and look at yours. Lol bottom line is I don't go there often so if I wanted to take it back I'm sure she would forget ha ha.

That IS funny. Besides, if something ever happend to your phone and you needed to bring it in, you can eaisly bring it back to stock and theyd never even know it! You're little secret!

She was just being a "fast food" employee and trying to puff herself up. There is nothing behind any of that, Verizon doesn't care. Pay your monthly bill, don't ask them to replace your phone 5 times because you bricked it, and you'll be fine.

Should've told her to give you a computer and 5 min and you could be back to stock and no one would know your warranty had been voided. ;) Not to mention they just reflash most of the phones they get on warranty anyways so they don't even know most of the time.

I know a guy who used to refurbish phones for verizon, and he didn't even know how to tell if a phone is rooted. The average verizon employee has no clue unless they've rooted themselves. They don't even check for root when you bring a phone in for warranty. They just reflash the firmware anyway.

why go to the store for warrenty replacement? dial *611 and they will overnight you anew phone. no need to go in.

Lol did not mean to thank your post, trying to remove a dog hair from the screen. I do agree though.

There other rep there (the one who usually helps me out) actually told me to root a while ago cause I was pissed about not having froyo and having that stupid verizon skype app constantly running. His phone is rooted and told me the same thing about warranties. Theres always a way back to stock and they have no idea you were ever rooted. Rep of the year lol

Or better yet.....shoud've told her to give a computer, five minutes and HER phone and you could've had her phone looking the same way!

NICE! I would totally do that. I've got two of my co-workers looking at rooting. One with a fascinate, and one with an OG droid that's getting harder and harder to tolerate.

I have been managing the phone account/repairs for the company I work for for 3 years... currently 4/6 fascinates rooted and themed..

Blackberry Storm I experience - "if you cannot fix it quick (call Verizon) - replace it." -

Fascinate Experience: "Give it to me... flash.... fixed." - Verizon who?

As much as I love sticking it to the man, you gotta watch out for this stuff.

They can add notes to your account, and even if they don't remember you, your warranty is kaput.

Yeah I'll definitely need to return it to stock before I get a new phone...whenever that happens. Because knowing me I'll forget and they'll somehow find out my phone was rooted! At least returning to stock is easy. :-P

Verizon's sending me a CPO-ed phone right now (hopefully it'll be here tomorrow). What should I put my phone back to before I send it back? DL01 odin? Or is that too far back and dj05 would be better? I already have the dl01 odin file - that's the only reason I'm suggesting it. Thanks in advance, guys.

I use a privately owned wireless store where they sell verizon phones. My guy told me to check online if i wanted to use my phone as a wifi hotspot and if it were an issue he would send me to someone to take care of it. Also told me to unlock my old storm so i can sell it for more money on ebay. Thats why i send him everyone i know with verizon. Screw the man.

i though you were sticking with the fascinate.

Not forever? Might buy a new phone with tax return money (which I won't get for awhile, I haven't filed yet). If not, I'm certainly going in Verizon the second I'm eligible for an upgrade and getting something else.

Last night I was at vzw store with my wifes phone it keeps having problems and she wont let me root it but anyways I had my phone and the guy working there saw my phone and was like dude how did u get it so sweet looking so I just showed him. He could not belive I had 2.2 running and stuff. But anyways he has a sf and wants me to show him how to do this stuff kind of funny right lol.
