Silencing ringer w/o answering call?

I know it is a stupid question and I will probably get pounded on, but when somebody calls and you don't want to answer the phone how do you silence the ringer until the caller gives up? Hopefully this does not include unlocking the display and hitting a shortcut mute/vibrate button.

There's also checkbox for 'Quiet ring on pickup' under settings - sound. It quiets the ring if you move the phone. The above answer combined with the "Quiet Ring" should do the job for you.

Just slide the sleep screen up instead of down. I believe if your screen is active that there is an "ignore" button option also.

This is from the manual; either via the display tap decline or drag the lock bar upward or just press the power button twice.

If you look at the screen it tells you to slide up to ignore.

I didnt know about the volume keys, good to know.

I think ignore sends the person straight to voicemail.. the volume keys silences the ringer but keeps the phone ringing in the background.
