Sim Activation

I just bought a HTC desire 530 about four hours ago and had the sim activated a little over two hours ago. My phone still doesn't recognize the SIM and my phone won't connect to the network. I've tried searching T-Mobiles website for help but I'm not getting anything.
 
You might try this:
-Turn off the phone
-Pull the SIM
-Rub the gold contacts with a clean cloth
-Replace the SIM
-Start the phone

Did it work? If it didn't then I've exhausted my knowledge.:-0
 
Gently cleaning the sim is always a good plan. Failing that, contact the network on another phone and see what the problem is. It's likely their end...
