Simply - Yes or No? Google screwed up this release.

I would have to say yes. I'm not as upset as some people are about it but, it would be nice to hear something. I'm very tempted to get one at Gamestop today if I can.

YES! I am one of the ones who have not got a charge, email or Nada. My best hopes is later this week. I ordered on the 27th, so by my books, anything past Wednesday is outside the 2-3 weeks time frame. Plus no matter what others have said, it was my expectation, rightfully so I think, that an early preorder would have some priority. Lesson learned on my part I guess.

Originally I was going to say no but now that I see despite getting an email from Google on Friday that my preorder 'shipped' on Friday, UPS tracking says as of Monday morning, they haven't even received the package.
So yes, it was screwed up.

Yes.

I wasn't too worked up about it until I got a fake "shipped" email with a tracking number that wasn't in the UPS system. Now today, 48 hours later, it is in their system and it says the label was printed on Jul. 11th but they still don't have the product. This is like some bad eBay or Craigslist drama.

Google is new at this and they aren't really a hardware company, just trying to play one on the internet. They'll figure it out eventually.

If this happened with somebody like Newegg or Amazon people would be freaking out even worse. Which just goes to show how well established they are at this stuff, v. Google who is still trying to figure it out. No big deal, but yes, it is fubar and a black eye for Google. And yes it will be forgotten and the black eye will heal once everyone gets what they ordered.

What promises did they make that they broke? Please elaborate.

Like I said, try doing the bare minimum in your job or relationship. Then plead that you're technically right. See how far that gets you.

They made no big promises. But people don't pay extra to get worse service. Only a moron would deny something as basic as that. Straight up, how many would have pre-ordered through the Play Store if they knew every major retailer would beat them?

The launch is messed. Now pre-order folks who are the most enthusiastic bunch are cleaning out stores which will be left with less inventory for the general public. And the Play store will get back a whackload of refused shipments. Overall, that's less launch sales. Say what you will, that's a bad launch in my books.

Doesn't say anything about the N7 itself though. I'm loving it.

Yup. So what else is new? haven't you noticed that screwed up releases are the rule, not the exception?

You heard it here folks: you can justify acting entitled, spoiled, and immature about something as little and insignificant as receiving a modern electronics device your life doesn't depend on simply by listing your random life accomplishments.

The only problem I have is with getting an email from Google on Friday night that my "preorder" "shipped" when in fact as of Monday morning, UPS was still waiting for it.
If it takes 2 days from when UPS gets it until I receive it, I have no gripe with UPS, they did their job.
Google on the other hand.....

yes..proof I should file a claim...lol....never charged until Friday, and this morning is the first real news that the tracking number is live.....never seen this bad of shipping before, so something went wrong...lol.

I don't even think Google will meet the 3 week target for most pre-orders.

And they don't care.

No
And no, I don't own a N7 yet.
The only thing that I can fault them on is not having a firm launch date. Google would know how many tablets they would want available on launch. They would also know how long manufacturing would take to get to that number (or have a really good estimate). They could have announced a launch date set in stone instead of the: "Sometime in mid July" crap they spewed out.
This was the main reason I didn't order from anyone online. I didn't want to sit around reading forums with rumors on when something that I've paid for may or may not ship.

So considering the launch date being written in sand as the tide was coming in. I think they did an okay job. I just hope they learn that people like to know actual dates for items like this. The alternative is lots of cranky consumers.

You answered no, but your words say yes.

Yes

Up until yesterday I'd say no but with the info I got today (see attached) I'd say someone didn't plan properly.

I pre-ordered mine on 6/28, recieved the same type of info today as an above poster. Not UPS's fault. You can make labels all day but until you have them on the package and ready for pick up they aren't going anywhere. So far mine hasn't gone anywhere...
