Size. Matters.

I've just had another look at the XL and I could definitely live with it, and probably without as much discomfort or inconvenience as I had with my 6P, but when I can comfortably carry around my 5" Pixel and get 5 hours SoT I think why bother? I'm so impressed with this device. More everyday.

That's fantastic to hear. The Pixel does seem to be an amazing device. I'd definitely have to get the 5" .... Although, there's that size thing again.... I REALLY love the 5.2 sweet spot.

iPhone 7, Galaxy S7, and Pixel are closer to 5" than 6".

No they are not
They are exactly in the middle
Between 5" and 6"
At 5.5"
Wish my note 7 was 6" that would be my sweet spot

Do you remember what exactly triggered the desire for a smaller size?

When the Note 7 was recalled I had to get another device quickly. So I just bought an LG for $99. It was a 5 inch screen. Gesture typing was so nice with one hand that I got used to it and became partial to it. So when it was time to get the Pixel I opted for the smaller size. But then had to return that due to issues. Now I have the iPhone 7. The smaller size just appeals to me more now. It's a feel and function thing. But I used to want bigger devices. The bigger the better. My tastes in smartphone just changed this time around. And I'm liking it.

I really think the Iphone 7 (smaller of the two) is the perfect size phone. If it were a little thicker -- meaning more battery -- I doubt I would have ever gone the Android route.

The battery has been good for me. So far it lasts about as long as my Pixel did. And I agree it is the perfect size.

Hmmm .... Really? Might have to check out the X Compact.

You could. Honestly, I just like how small it is. Only considered trying it because of the price drop at the moment, lol. I'm probably an oddball but I like having the 4.7" screen size again.

I generally like my phones large, e.g. iPhone 6 Plus or Samsung Galaxy Note 5. That said, I'm currently using an LG G5 with a 5.3" screen, even smaller than its predecessor, the G4 which sported a 5.5" screen. It didn't take long to adjust to the narrower phone but it is clearly a different feel. I think 5.5" would be in the sweet spot.

iPhone 7: 4.7"
Galaxy S7: 5.1"
Pixel: 5"

Note: I did not say iPhone 7 Plus, Galaxy S7 edge, and Pixel XL.

And I went to the Verizon store today for the first time in months. And I was looking at all of their flagship phones. And these were my 3 favorites. Great screens, fast displays, responsive -- no stutter, finger print readers, great cameras, and decent battery life.

I can understand the infatuation of 5.7" and larger phones. But I can't figure out why all of the Android phones "drifted" to the awful 5.5" territory. That is too small to be a phablet, too big to use with one hand, and too big to fit in average size pockets.

Bigger is supposedly better. :/

I'm the same as DrWayneWilliams in that I will adjust if I like the phone enough. That was until the 6P came along and I couldn't lean forward to do my shoe laces up, or get into a car, without taking it out of my pocket.

At the point a phone becomes a hindrance in your life instead of a help, it's time to change, regardless of battery size! Besides, small phones charge quicker. :)

Your post is similar to my experience. I didn't have a 6P but to me, it's tiring to always have to think about the placement of your phone. I was at various events this October, and it was annoying to use so much energy thinking about where I should place my phone.

I went to two baseball games this past summer...with two different phones and the difference was something I noticed after the second game. One small (iPhone SE) and one "big". With the small phone, I was able to cheer all I want and I got pictures in time too because it just came from my pocket. The "big" phone, I cheered but because of fears, it always quickly went back into my purse. I had to put my phone down so that I could cheer properly each time. I missed some of the moments I wanted to get.

Just got one to try out for fun. Not oddball at all btw. One thing I've learned over all these years of being a mobile device fanatic and collector is that Smartphones are like fashion, Art and food ...... VERY subjective. The fact that people will actually give someone a hard time about what phone they're using is just silly.

5.3 is an interesting Size. I agree though.... 5.5 seems to be the most popular sweet spot.

I totally agree. I'm curious about how you would feel about the size \o/

I went to a concert on Saturday night and was able to easily take pictures and then put my MXPE back in my pocket and sit in my seat. However, I just used a thin TPU case, not anything bulky.

Wow nice! IMO, your experience is my ideal one.
