Skinned Google Messages

Not true. I have the iPhone reactions on the Samsung version. I had previously installed the open beta as you describe and had the reactions there first, but after I took the update in Play (the Sasmung variant) the feature still works.

In the attached screenshot, the pizza message was sent and replied to while on the open beta. Then I installed the Samsung variant and tried again.

I'm even more sure now this is a server side update. Keep the app updated and wait.
I tried everything stated and it doesn't work. So I'll just have to wait. I'm on the Beta version from the play store now and hope to get an update soon.

I just pulled up an update for the Beta, and it still doesn't have the iPhone settings option. Must definitely be a server side issue! I am also unlocked on AT&T, so it could be a network thing.

I'm on T-Mobile locked and I'm on beta and it just received an update but still no iPhone reactions.

No new features on my OneUI skinned Google Messages on my S22 Ultra using ATT. If you folks are getting then it's probably ATT screwing me over.

I think it's a server side update and some haven't had it roll to them yet. Google's rollouts seem to generally take forever.

Yeah it's definitely a limitation set server side for the S22. Both my ZFold3 and Pixel 6 Pro have the iPhone reactions as well as all the other new features like automatically deleting verification sms messages after 24hrs.

It isn't a limitation set for the S22. I have the S22 Ultra, and have the iPhone reactions currently on the Sasmung skinned Messages app. I had them on the open beta before that (on the S22U).

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but they aren't limiing the option for the S22, it just hasn't rolled out via server side update to everyone yet.

That's what I'm saying is they've limited the S22U version and are slowly rolling it out. I've had it on my beta and official versions for my ZF3 and P6P since like end of January. Why they're taking this long to deploy it to the S22 series makes no sense.

Maybe I should pop my sim back into my S22U and see if it shows up.

Are you unlocked and what carrier?

Not unlocked, on Verizon. About a week ago I rolled back updates and installed the open beta. I rarely get those iPhone reactions, so I didn't know if they were working or not. tested it out with my daughter and her iPhone a couple of days ago and it worked. I decided to go back to the Samsung skinned version because it's easiest to update, and the iPhone reactions were still there.

Others have reported that they had the reactions (on the open beta) for a while and then they disapeared. Did you have them straight through since January?

There are also people with the open beta who don't have the reactions yet.

I don't think the app variant matters, Samsung or otherwise, and everyone will eventually get the feature. Google takes foooreeeeveeeer to roll out server side updates to its apps.

Yeah I never had it when I received my S22U which was since it released. I'm on the beta and Even tried to uninstall the updates but that didn't work. I'm unlocked on AT&T and yeah I hope Google adds the feature soon as I do get a lot of iPhone reactions and it's definitely annoying getting the separate text message. Just one of the reasons why I've been sticking with ZF3 as my primary for now. Just popped my SIM in my S22U and installed the latest Beta update that was available today and still don't have it.

I got an update to Messages today and I have only noticed one change. For some reason my message box/bubbles for some people have changed from green to blue. Others are still green but before today, I never saw any blue ones. Nothing else has change and still do not have the option referred to under Settings>Advanced.

I'm wondering if iPhone reactions are device-specific? I had a Note 20 Ultra up until last month and was receiving iPhone reactions on that with the beta messages app. Soon as I migrated over to the S22 Ultra I lost those iPhone reactions when using the Samsung skinned messaging app. I then uninstalled updates, cleared cache and data for the messages app and manually installed the openbeta dynamic apk. I then got chat features back but still no iPhone reactions. Still receiving the "liked" message.

Unrelated question, what is the difference between the GO, DYNAMIC and SAMSUNG apk's?

I had organized messages, photo links on my ATT Note 20 U with a T-Mobile SIM. I moved the SIM to my ATT ZF3, and I have none of those features but just working RCS - but same version of Google Messages (i'm on beta). So, you're getting these and iphone reactions on your ZF3? It's definitely not on all ZF3s.

Because its a server side update. That's the only logical conclusion. There's no consistency of device or version of Messages and having or not having the feature.

Could be because my ZF3 is unlocked? Not really sure. It's all an inconsistent mess. Lol

Yeah, that is frustrating. Just activated my 22 Ultra and I do not have iphone reactions, categories, or even the new Google style settings that I have on my Note 9. That's after installing the exact same apk version too.

Ahh maybe that's it, if you have the Unlocked version. I have the ATT version, but just SIM unlocked. Agree - this has been a huge mess and indeed it seems that it's all on server side affecting what we see.

I have the Verizon S22 Ultra and have the reactions, etc.

I have a locked AT&T S22 Ultra. I uninstalled the stock Samsung Google Messages updates. Downloaded this version of Google Messages from apkmirror and installed it. I have the iPhone reactions as shown by the red arrow. I only get read receipts from my son's AT&T S20. He's using Samsung Messages, not Goigle Messages. My other son has a AT&T unlocked S22 Ultra using Samsung Google Messages and there's no read receipts etc between us. That's very strange. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you're just referring to RCS reactions, right? RCS users have the option to turn off read receipts.
