Skype available!!!

Skype is still working pretty well for me. did anyone have lag time while using the app. Right after I installed my phone started acting weird. Freezing and just moving very slow.

Is it me, or does anyone else notice their notification light rapidly blinking red while Skype is running?

Found the reason for this looks like it's the proximity sensor. People at XDA thought it was a bug in the new CWR you can read more here.

I have actually been leaving it online and haven't noticed any adverse side effects as of yet. I've had it installed since it was leaked.

I leave mine signed out cause I feel the light/indicator would have an effect on the battery life.

Does this Skype app only work from cell phone to cell phone? I just now tried but failed to connect using my Thunderbolt to a friend's laptop connection. Actually, I could only hear voices, but no video. Frustrating. Also, why does the Skype app say that in the United States the app can only run using WiFi??? WTF?? If this is true, then this Skype app won't be much use to me if it can only run off of WiFi.

I just made a video call using 4G to my cousin in Europe who was on Skype on his laptop. He said the video quality was great. I could also see him pretty impressively without any lag. Twice during the 20 minute video call, I broke up, but came back quickly. The audio was great too.

This is pretty sweet!!

Video is good over 3g/4g/wi-fi, and the other end can hear me...but I can't hear the other person.

Suggestions? Thank you.

Anyone else paranoid about installing a big name, highly anticipated app that mysteriously appears outside of the Market on an anonymous downloading site from an unknown source?

I'm not unknown, well maybe to you ;P

Btw, this is the "official" version from Skype. They updated it again internally, but didn't really fix anything; thus I won't post.

Also any FC issues are because you're likely running a ROM or kernel that is messing up something. Any ROM close to stock or stock with root should work fine.

I tethered my Thunderbolt to an iPhone 4 and made a video call and remarkably the video quality on the iPhone 4 wasn't half bad, then again there is more bandwidth for better video ;)

First, thank you for providing this download.

I posted (on this page) that I can't hear others. My phone is completely stock...this is the first "out of market experience" for me on Android.

Any suggestions to fix my volume issue would be greatly appreciated.

I'm glad it worked for you, this gives me hope. I just tried again using Skype Mobile from my Thunderbolt to a friend's laptop. The best that could be achieved for me was to see video for a few seconds, and would then constantly disconnect. Is there any special settings you used for your connection? I find this frustrating! Oh well, good to know it's working for others.

Someone please help me, I'm rooted, stock rom, can't get this apk file to install at all, even after using all the app installers I could find from market. What am I doing wrong?

Hi C,

I had that problem, but then what solved it for me was I used the first mirror link and installed that way, just make sure you can accept outside apps. Hope this helps
