Skype with Video

Install instructions?

Download it, then in any file manager (Astro is what I use) navigate to the download folder and click on the file. Then it installs. If it prompts you to "Browse the file" or "Open in App Manager" then click "Open in App Manager".

It's very straightforward.

For those having trouble getting the video to work, make sure that Skype is updated to the latest version on the PC. When I first installed it on my TB, I tried to call my wife on our home PC and the audio worked, just not the video. She updated Skype on the PC and it's worked flawlessly ever since with VERY clear video on either 3G or 4G.

On 4G, 1.0.1.1025 works great - video and voice over bluetooth. On 3G I haven't been able to get video to work - only voice. My phone is stock.

So what's the deal with the security hack, as long as there isn't an app installed which searches for the db files there isn't really any breach right?

Can you expand on the security issue
(CHEIIIIIIIF!!! How's your tank doing?)

The leaked version of skype for Tbolt and other versions had a security hole that enabled someone to get your personal info. Last I heard they fixed the other versions but hadn't heard if they fixed the leaked version.

I don't think they did. I re-downloaded it from the link in this thread and it was the same one.

I downloaded via the link from megafile via my phone and pc, and both ways when I access it in astro I get installation unsuccessful. Any suggestions? Already tried restarting my phone, which is an Evo 4G by the way.

Oh I see this is the Thunderbolt forum, that could be the problem lol.

Go to Menu, Settings, Applications and make sure "unknown sources" is checked.

they fixed skype audio only which is on the android market. the leaked skype video still has the security leak, but just make sure you and your contacts don't have any info on there, and they won't be able to steal much.

Complete myth. Skype Mobile never had any security leak, be it the non-video or video versions.

***DO NOT CONFUSE SKYPE MOBILE WITH SKYPE FOR ANDROID***

Here is the break down:

Skype for Android- Audio only. Works for all current Android devices. Had security issue but it was fixed, since its account architecture runs directly to the web.

Skype Mobile- Audio only. Verizon Wireless devices only. Since its account architecture runs through VZW before the web, it did not fall victim to Skype for Android's security issue. ***NOT FOR USE WITH THUNDERBOLT***

Skype Mobile with Video- Audio and Video. Verizon Wireless LTE devices (and maybe a few 3G ones as well). Since its account architecture runs through VZW before the web, it did not fall victim to Skype for Android's security issue. ***THIS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE ON MOST DEVICES***

Wait, so leaked version of Skype with video for the Thunderbolt never had the security problem?

If this is true, I'm reinstalling asap. Eagerly waiting.

So long as you and all your contacts remove all your personal data, there's not much info they can take, besides your skype id and city? you can watch the youtube video showing what info they can take.
