Skyraider 4.0 Available Now

i miss the old one where i could long press almost any button and get to keys beneath it. I've also yet to figure out how to hide the keyboard, 3.5 had a hide keyboard button this one seems to be missing.

You could try installing the Froyo keyboard .apk or find a flashable zip...its around here somewhere I know. After you've got it installed go to keyboards under your main phone settings and make sure its selected. From there open up a text like your going to send a message and long press in a text entry place and that should bring up a menu to choose your input method. Select the keyboard your want and that would give you back your long press keyboard buttons. At first I missed them too but I've really gotten used to and enjoy the GB keyboard.

Also, when the keyboard is up and you want it stowed just hit the back arrow...the main button back arrow on the phone itself, not the backspace on the keyboard. Not the most elegant solution but it should work.

23 hrs after flashing this rom I have 47% battery left on a 2150 mah battery. :)
Moderate to Heavy useage

Only issue is once launcherpro plus FCed on me hasnt happened again.

PS: I been using this app to reset my battery stats when rom hoping .I think its about the same thing as manual way ,guess I've gotten lazy tho :p lol

Is the manual way just going into recovery and deleting the battery stats? Haven't ever tried it but I know it was a big topic several months ago. My question is now that it has been months since this was discovered, does it actually work?

The manual way to wipe the battery stats is to boot up into CWM("recovery" ,volume button down+power button).
Go into recovery >advanced>wipe battery stats.Th wipe battery stats is just below the dalvik cache
As far as that app working I just started using it first on dx. Tried it on dinc after I flashed skyraider 4.0. I guess it worked but I was getting great battery life before as well so not 100% if it did. ;)

I am really liking this ROM.... my battery is holding up much better then compared to some OTHER Roms :) I have had zero issues thus far. also, I am loving my 16gb sd card... makes it easy to jump from nand(ROM) to nand(ROM) and not worry about spending an hour resetting everything up...

Probably the main reason I haven't flashed it yet.....I'll probably give it a shot no later than the coming weekend. :)

I've been using it for a day. It has been very smooth and zero reboots. The only issue I've had was the signal is not a strong. On my drive to and from work in had no signal in areas that I've had no problems in the past. I'll try it again if there is a solution is will try it again.

Remember that signal bars are not necessarily indicative of actual reception (yes I'm talking about you iPhone 4). For that you have to go to settings, about phone, network /signal strength and get the db rating from there. The other way would be to make a call as you drive through the suspect area.

I've been using SR 3.5 and just flashed 4.0. I did a nandroid backup before I flashed 4, but when I went to do the restore, it reverted everything back to 3.5.

Is it possible to restore just my apps, contacts, previous SMS history, call history, etc without restoring the ROM too?

Also, one of the things I like about 3.5 is the percentage indicator on thew battery. I noticed 4.0 didn't have this feature. Is there any way to get that 3.5 battery icon?

A nandroid will always restore everything, Apps, Settings, OS; the works. That's the point. A nandroid is an image of your phone at the time the nandroid was made.

If you just want to backup apps, I would recommend Titanium Backup from the market. But only restore apps that store data and state information (like games). Other apps should be re-downloaded from the market.

..... Also "MyBackupPro" thats in the market will restore apps and app data too.
As well as restore :contacts, call log, bookmarks, sms, mms, system settings, android home, alarms, dictionary, calandar, music playlist, whew I think thats it ;)

I have used "MyBackUpPro" to restore sms, browser bookmarks, but I use titanium backup to restore my apps (app data only). Its not free but does have a trial offer

Not that I've found, and I've looked. Not saying it isn't there, I just haven't been able to find it yet. However, I'm not real concerned cause I use the Minimalistic Text widget for my clock, Temps, and batt %. I think Kyle Gibb (?) did a write up on a circular battery widget a couple of weeks ago...it looked pretty cool but as I said, I'm using something else so no real need for it.

Or you could try and find a battery mod from another sense based ROM or if there was a battery mod from SR 3.5 and have a go at that, after you Nandroid first. Not sure if that would work but I'd give it a shot and see.

What about these kernels like lou's #8 and such? I hear they can save battery life... How do they work?

Not an expert on kernels (or much else for that matter) but I know certain kernel's don't get on well with certain ROMs. I'm pretty sure lou's #8 is a sense kernel but I can't be sure, I'm just going from what I've read.

Try and research the particular kernel you want to try, make sure it works with Sense based ROMs, or you check out the developer of the ROM and see if they have made other kernels. Do a nandroid (of course), flash your kernel and see what happens...worst case scenario you have to pull the battery to reboot back to clockwork and restore your back up.

I got this off xda works good

download the app metamorph and the zip file here MorphSR4StockBatPercent.zip and use metamorph to apply it. It strictly changes the battery to a battery with a percentage reading.

Thanks for the hookup ballbusta, battery mod worked like a charm! Never used metamorph before but it's fairly easy.

I have discovered an issue with skyraider 4.0. When I connect my phone to my computer the dialog to choose charge only, disk drive and so forth will not come up. This is intermittent but once the dialog refuses to come up I have to power cycle the phone to get the dialog box to come up. I cannot mount the storage on the phone to transfer files even when I go in to settings memu connect to pc and select default connection type. Ask me usb connection type is checked.

I have seen this issue in previous skyraider versions.
