Sleep button 'droid' animation no longer happens

Have had my Nexus 5 for 4 days, and i noticed the other day that when i press the sleep button the power-down screen animation no longer happens. i dont really know the official term but it looks like an old CRT TV turning off, thats the best way i can describe it. so instead the screen just goes black. This really is not a problem just something i noticed and was curious about. I like the effect and was wondering if anyone else has come across this.
Couldn't find it in search perhaps because i dont know what to call it?

Try and wipe the cache using stock recovery. I can't post instructions right now. Hopefully someone else can.

I do not own a Nexus 5, but I am familiar with what your reporting. This animation will go away if you change or turn off animations in the settings. When ever I turned off animations on any android device, since ICS I think, the old CRT effect goes away.

That's what I would suspect. If you have Developer Options activated, make sure you haven't modified the Animation settings there. Go to Settings>Developer Options, and look under the "Drawing" category.
