Sleep of Death on Nook Color

I have a nook color with CM7 running off an SD card. Often when the screen has been off for an extended period of time, it enters into a Sleep of Death mode where it will not respond to anything until it is forcibly shutdown and restarted.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this problem?

This is said to be a problem with wifi. This worked for me:
Go to Settings>Wireless and networks?Wi-Fi settings. Then hit the menu button and choose Advanced. Click Wi-Fi sleep policy and select "When screen turns off".
I haven't experienced sleep of death since I tried this.

koopa - thanks for the tip. I'll have to try that. A few dumb noob questions:

1) This does work for a nook with CM7 running off the SD card as opposed to a full root, right?
2) When you say "check wipe dalvik cache" - is that an option that pops up when you choose to run the zip file? Or do you have to do that separately? If separately, where do I do that?
3) How do I check my CM version to make sure I have 7.1?

Thank you so much for your time and help!

Hmmm, I do not use an SD install but what Im thinking is that you can apply it as an update by renaming the .zip file to update.zip and dragging it over to the boot partition and updating that way. DO NOT use rom manager if you are on an SD install.

To check what CM version you have go to settings-> About Tablet -> Mod version.

I second the WiFi fix mentioned above. I ready through the forums at XDA tried a few fixes, and my issue seems to be gone.

Thanks to koopa for posting the kernel fix. I am going to apply that tonight so I can switch my WiFi settings back.

auburngirl, please let me know how it works for you. I'd very much like to keep my wifi policy to "never sleep."

Also, do you have your nook running off an SD card or are you traditionally rooted?
