So finally got my 32gb s3 and ive been noticing a slight lag when flipping through apps. Once ive gone over them once and dont turn off the screen its smooth but at first it does hesitate a bit. Guys at verizon put in my old sim card that was in the 16gb and I think from there uploaded all my old apps into my phone, maybe try a system reset?. Anyone else have this slight lag? Also in some apps like mutant roadkill everything is sped up. Its only happened once but i did find it quite annoying. Installed juicedefender so maybe that running is causing the slight lag?

SIM card does not have any effect on your lag. If you are using stock TW, the slight lag occasionally is going to happen. How bad is this slight lag? JuiceDefender might cause the the problem and from my time with the GS3 you don't need it. Battery life is good enough without it.

My experience wasnt to great with battery life on the 16gb model. Seriously at the most 8 hours before i needed to recharge and that was with the screen brightness low, no widgets, texting maybe twice, one picture taken and uploaded into facebook. Thats all i did and it couldnt last 8 hours. Its stock, the lag isnt to bad, its just a little, but like i said once i run through all pages it goes away and becomes smooth. The keyboard however is slow!! Im probably going to upgrade because it can not keep up!

The stock samsung keyboard is terrible. I would recommend Swiftkey3. Really, thats weird I had pretty good battery life. Don't forget though, that will also be judged on how well you cellular service is around the area. If you are in a spotty area that will impact battery life. Also, if you don't live in a 4G area you can disable 4G by downloading an app called Phone Info.

That could be doing it. I live in a small town, usually i do have service though. If i dont have service its for maybe 5 minutes. Weird. No 4g where i live, we still use 3g out here I have to drive to vegas to have 4g. Any other keyboards? I really like having swype but its so unreliable and gets almost every word wrong that I cant even use it. I tried swiftkey3 on my old phone and by the end i really liked it. Any difference from the free- 3.99 version?

The free version I believe is a trial and will expire after a period of time. Yea if you don't have 4G I would say download Phone Info and disable 4G.

Do widgets cause the phone to waste a lot of battery? Right now i have large twitter and facebook. Large Picture frame set on random. Accuweather, and the my data usage. I also have one of the live wallpapers. Will any of this make much difference in battery life. So far today with a ton of usage(nonstop youtube, games, app downloads, and music) It's lasted 6 hours with 38% battery left. I'd say either this phone didnt have the battery problem, or the juicedefender app does work!

Maybe individually it won't be bad but collectively, your shooting yourself in the foot. Widgets updates, live wallpaper is bad like it used to be, but not good either.

I say if you want to keep all that running, get a spare battery or increase the update intervals on them

I mean if its going to kill my battery i can learn to live without it. With juicedefender though i dont think facebook and twitter update, mobile data doesnt turn on until ive started using something that uses data. Picture frame is just flipping through all my pictures so I guess that one can go and the live wallpaper I just thought looked cool so it can go as well. Accuweather unless theres a better app will stay, I like having the weather right there

Widgets and anything that is active on the screen will cause battery drain and slight UI lag. Even with Juice Defender, the widgets will update once they are scheduled too. Juice Defender (if I remember properly from when I used on it on my Thunderbolt) only stopped data usage when the screen was off. However, I noticed that this didn't have a great impact on battery either. Constantly having data turn on and off will help chew battery life as well.

My opinion is to only use widgets that you need, make sync times in longer intervals and be aware of your service signal. Aside from that, you might want to get a spare battery/charger if you are experience such drains and want to keep all those widgets and such.

Out of curiosity, what is your screen on time average if your phone is dying in 8 hours?

Today im going to be testing. With the 16 gb model seriously couldnt have been more than 30 minutes. With the 32gb I used it a ton yesterday almost non stop, I'd say its working a lot better now. I may disable juicedefender just to get a good estimate on what the battery life is. Then turn it on the next day to see if it improves. Ill just leave the accuweather widget then.

I would be curious to see the results. Also, download and app called GSMBattery. It gives a better indication of what exactly is killing your battery.

Any other tips on battery life? I noticed that on juicedefender it always said auto sync ping? I dont know what that is but every minute it said that. Any other tips are appreciated, brightness, internet brightness etc.

Honestly I left everything alone... auto brightness, 15s screen timeout.

alright its installed, once off the charger we'll see how the battery holds up, usually I only use it for texting, music, a little internet, and games at times when im bored.

Did you have power saver mode on? I turned it on when I got the phone and have been wondering why my phone lags too. Turned the power saver off and its much better.
