Slingbox is the only thing holding me back from June 4 switch...Help?

Sprint TV will cant even be compared to Sling lol. I havent used my Slingplayer as much as I used to but im going to need it by the time the NBA summer league starts up.

With me being a Knick fan and this being the biggest free agency summer ever, I will have to have ESPN on my hip at all times.

It's sinking in now...now EVO for me till Sling....I actually LISTEN to TV (or my cable box more precisely) when ever I go out...either that or one of 2 local talk stations on Kinoma for Palm....Oh well...it sounds like Android 2.2 is just around the corner and if I wait an extra few weeks ...i'll start off with then new version.

:(

I wonder why there is no competitor for Slingbox...the hardware cost $250, so it's not for everyone but the benefit is so useful...I can view my security cameras on the phone. Good new is they ARE working on the app...they did NOT create one for the Palm Pre :(

too bad nobody will post the beta apk anywhere so we can at least use that till the official app is out.

Sling shoots onto Android devices this Summer
Android apk review - Fri, 19/03/2010 - 9:13am
Well, as you may have heard by now, Sling is on its way to Android. The other night at the gdgt live Austin we got a chance to see the live video streaming service in action.

The SlingPlayer app from Sling Media will play video from and allow you to control your home media center over 3G or WiFi. The app controls a Slingbox, a piece of hardware that sits in your home and relays your media to anywhere you’ve got signal. The app can change the channel and even control the DVR.

They had the SlingPlayer running on a Nexus One, a Motorola Droid, a Samsung Behold 2, and an iPhone. The Android UI wasn’t quite done but was expected to function similarly to the iPhone app.

They expect to be ready to launch by this Summer so we should be seeing some live video in your hand within just a few months.

I can't take it, I'm gonna go ahead and get a EVO, root it, & use the mobile hotspot & my wm phone for sling & Sirius... I hate carrying multiple devices, but my inner geek won't allow me to not get a EVO!!

WAIT WAIT WAIT.... can I use slingbox.com to view my slingbox through their website instead of using the slingplayer software ON MY DEVICE????

I can go to any computer, access slingbox.com, sign in with my sling account and access my slingbox....will the HTC EVO 4G let me do this???

Give Orb a shot until your Sling app arrives. I watch all my cable channels, access all my pics, mp3s etc. App on your PC free, Android app $10.

There's a mobile site, which is free. I've used it on my LG Dare with success in the past. I have a mac now, so I haven't tried it recently (orb + Mac don't play well).

I'm not sure what browser(s) the EVO is loaded with, or what browsers can be installed, but I'm pretty sure Chrome isn't compatible with the Slingbox.com site (or vice versa). I'd imagine any other Google-based browsers wouldn't be compatible, either?

Anybody know for sure?...

@OP Checkout the front page of Android Central. No new news but a vid should hold you over and should be proof positive that the launch is eminent.

I like the looks of the mobile player! I've never had slingbox, what would I need at home to use the mobile product? I have Uverse.

Hopefully this is a little teaser and they are going to release it within 2 weeks of the evo launch because they know how many people want it.

Looks like a final product already, guess they are just waiting for the phone to be released..

Next question is how are they going to charge it, can we transfer BlackBerry, Windows phone, Palm OS, or Symbian smartphones paid license to this one?
