On my s8 when I used slow motion the entire video was in slow motion then I could edit it afterwards as to where the slow motion starts and stops.

It seems like now the slow motion is automatic and puts the video in slow motion once the action enters the picture. Only problem with that is sometime it catches the movement too early and misses the part I want in slow motion and it doesn't allow me to edit the video afterwards. Am I doing something wrong or is it changed ?

You're liking at the Super Slow Motion mode,and that one yes, has that auto mode you describe or a manual mode that lets you trigger the slow motion capture every time. Because of the high frame rate of this mode, continuous recording in slow motion is not supported.

To have a continuous video that you can later edit into slow motion, you need to use the normal Slow Motion mode not the super one.
