Small calendar widget that will correctly show all-day events?!

The default calendar widgets are lacking, in that they don't display all-day events correctly (or at least to my liking).
For example, today (Sun) is the birthday for two friends, and both the Android and the HTC calendar widget (the small one) don't show those for today, instead they show an all day event for tomorrow! And I don't see a way to edit the settings on those widgets (is that due to Sense?).

I have searched the Market and found a couple of options to try: Agenda Widget and Quick Calendar, but they both have their shortcomings.

Looking for a clean, simple widget that would show (however many) all-day events and other events that are occurring today (or whenever the next appointment really is - maybe it's two days from now).

Thanks!

Even the big widget is relatively useless. I have the baseball teams schedule in my calendar so essentially every day on the calendar has an event. But the widget just shows the same little triangle on every day so I have to click it to see what's going on.

What's the point of it taking up a whole page if I just have to open the calendar anyway? Might as well just remove and add a shortcut for the calendar app.

Have you tried Calendar Pad? All day events display correctly (although you need to make sure that All Day events are set up that way when you create appointments).

I especially like the Week View and the Day Pop Up option (Settings>Day Type View>Popup day view).

smooth calendar

I totally forgot about Smooth Calendar! It's relatively compact, and it properly displays numerous all-day events!

:)

Smooth Calendar's problem is that it doesn't update until its told to. If you have an event at 8 am and another one at 11 am, and it's now 10 am, it only shows you the 8 am event until you refresh it.

Try CalWidget. It has many size options.

+1

Smooth Calender is the way to go! A def fix for the buggy HTC/Android calender!!! Has the same look to the originals and you can see up to 3 days in advance in the small widget with weather!

(So Far) going with calwidget, 4x1, but it seems to partially cut off the last line.

Wow, I just stumlbed upon the perfect one for me, and wanted to share it here!

It's called Android Agenda Widget. Very highly customizable. I tweaked it to show my next 4 appointments, yet only using up one row of widget space!

Blows Smooth Calendar away, and does exactly what I was looking for!

Thanks for the other suggestions, everyone!

another vote for smooth calendar. I have it showing me the next 3 appts., it doesn't matter if they are all day or set time appts. they show. Smooth calendar looks better too. Android agenda reminds me of windows mobile.

Did you change your mind on the one you just had posted?

yep gave it another chance and downloaded it and played with it and remembered why i didn't like it the first time and i deleted it. it (Calendar Pad) is the best of the bunch IMO but i still don't like it. all of these widgets are what they are - simply widgets. they are good for a view but to enter a new event that are clumsy and slow and really just a front face interface for the stock default calendar. SO i will just stick to the default calendar and hope that Android improves this.

i love Android but the Calendar is the one area that's lacking IMO. it's the one thing i miss about the old PalmOS.

exactly, that's what I use it as. If I want to see the extended calendar I just go the my last screen on the left and that's where I have the Agenda set. It was just funny that I saw your post, refreshed and it was gone. lol
