Smart Alert + Screen automatically turns on

Hey all,

So on my previous S4, whenever I picked up my phone it would vibrate via smart alert but also the screen would automatically turn on, showing me my missed messages. I just got the S5, and although it vibrates the screen doesn't turn on like my S4. Any ideas how to enable this?

P.S. I'm on Verizon, if that is relevant.

I don't have the S5 (or S4 for that matter), so I'm kind of guessing what the issue may be. But, have you checked the display settings (system settings > display) for anything that would wake the device when an alert is received?
