My Note 9 is being repaired so I am backing up with smart switch on my Windows computer before doing a factory reset.

When I get phone back at what point do I use smart switch restore from computer back to phone?

Do I sign in to Google Gmail first or just connect the completely unset Note 9 back to the computer and run smart switch restore?

Any tips gratefully accepted.

Now I'm really stuck - I didn't see your answer and called Samsung. They said to be sure to connect to smart switch BEFORE Google so you don't get duplicate contacts?

Make any sense?

You would have to go after Google sign in to use back up from smart switch, so you can do at that point or after you get on the screen, no duplicate or anything.

So I sign in to Google but refuse auto google back up then connect blank phone to computer with smart switch backup and it will find phone again and restore everything?

Samsung guy said I would get a smart switch option before phone asked for Google sign in. I never remembered that so I was perplexed by his advice.

I hope smart switch sets up wear os against so I don't have to reset my Fossil Carlyle.

It will say connection then sign Google then restore from back up then fingerprints, then Samsung sign in

Any problem taking the sim out of this Note 9. Shutting it off. Then installing sim in old vzw lg v20 then reversing process tomorrow when I get phone back?

VZW told me not to because it would lock my phone? I really don't know what they mean but I'm not changing providers anyway.

I've never tried the sim switch process. Do I still have to activate on line?

I long for the good old days when my phones were rooted and a back up backed up absolutely everything!

I don't know what you're trying to do but swapping the sim back and forth shouldn't lock a phone. I assume they mean carrier lock.

I assume it means carrier lock. I've always been VZW. Always will. Nobody else has good signal in burbs of Boston
