The thing that alot of you are forgetting here is the fact that this is JUST getting released. Just like EVERY other device ever released, its got flaws at launch. As another poster said, some of these flaws can easily be fixed with an update. I'm nearly willing to bet that within the first week or two, they'll be pushing out an update or two to fix some problems.
In today's world of electronics (specially in the area of mobile electronics), almost nothing is shipped with actual "final" firmware/software. They simply release the stablest build they have at the time of manufacturing, and then they keep working on it more and more until finally when it does launch, they have some hope of fixing some things they weren't able to fix before manufacturing. Almost every phone I've ever gotten at launch always needed updates right from the get go. And after one or two updates, the phones all started to become really good (only exception is my crappy Pre Minus, of which Plam/HP seem to have forgotten about quite a long while ago).
The reviews that any of us will read right now, are reviews of a phone that is only 98% complete, if that. Not to mention, almost every review is biased, no matter how you look at it. I've read quite a lot of them, and not one so far has came across as unbiased. I'm saying this, because in their writing, they constantly have things said like "the micro usb port is sadly uncovered" or "I dont like the feel of the textured backing". Why would it be sad if the port is uncovered? Sure some people like the covering, but some dont because they tend to rip off rather easily. Not to mention if they did have the cover, how would they pull it off aesthetically? (god I hope I spelled that right XD ). And so what if the backing's texture didn't feel right to him/her, it doesn't mean that any of us will feel the same way.
When it comes to a review, the only aspect that we can rely on is the specs area, where there is a definite base line. If its runs fine and performs rather quickly, then its something worth noting. if it doesn't run hardly at all, then again, something to note.
And granted that so far, every review seems to be rather inconsistent, I dont even know if their reviews are worth counting, or if getting a properly working Evo 3D is going to be just some random act of luck. Some say the battery life is absolutely horrible, while others say it lasts for over a day. Some say the camera is the best they've ever seen, while others say its grainy or pixelated. There are those who say the screen looks beautiful and is one of the sharpest and vivid screens they have ever seen on a phone, while there are some that say its horrible and doesn't look right to them. And with the whole 3D aspect, there are some who say that it works wonderfully, while there are those that say they simply just could not get it to work right or that they couldn't stand it. All these things are personal preference most of the time, and my opinion with all this is that either the phone's quality is going to be purely random from phone to phone, or that each reviewer had drastic preferences for their "phones".
