So after the reviews, does it look like Sensation > Evo 3D

Let me first say this, I'm NOT trying to bash anything. I'm a potential buyer of one of these devices, so I've been reading up on both a lot.

It looks like the Sensation has the better battery life, better looking screen, better 1080p recording (30fps vs 24fps).

It looks like the Evo 3D has a little more ram and the 3D stuff.

Hmm....

I would say wait till the release to judge for yourself. It seems like many of these reviews are made by Iphone or T Mobile fanboys.

I'm sorry, but I don't see any evidence that there is a massive T-Mobile/iPhone fanboy conspiracy among reviewers. Why even read reviews if you are going to start with the view that the phone is perfect while dismissing all criticisms as unfair?

I want this phone to be the best on the market. No reviewer seems to think it is. At best, it seems to be just another high-end phone that performs adequately.

I doubt sensation has better battery life if you are not using the two features that drain the battery on the evo 3d. such as wiimax and 3d

Well, first of all, I don't think any phone is perfect and don't think evo 3d will be one. Every phone will have problems. But we all have to see for ourselves about this phone. We can't judge it based on unbiased reviews that aren't necessarily showing the truth.

At this point, I'd wait a week till both phones are released and you can get popular opinions of both, or better yet opinions of people you may know who have the 3D (and similar for the Sensation).

But based on what we've seen, my advice would be that since neither 3D nor slimness moves you to choose a phone, I'd make my decision based on the networks the phones run on, rather than on the hardware. Which network is more appealing to you? Sounds like both phones are reasonable smart phones, even if they don't seem as stellar as the EVO 4G when it came out.

Well fps and battery life can be changed with updates, so they should end up being better just as the original Evo

Even if you buy it, you can easily return it up to 30 days. So no need to even wait for the opinions.

I really think the way I use the phone I would have plenty of battery left at the end of the day. Engadget point out that they lost 40% battery in an hour using the 3d camera, which I wont be using. I am getting this phone for specs and the unlimited features sprint offers. I hate ATT and their crappy limited data plans and verizon is going the same route.

I am not really getting this phone for 3d, the other hardware specs and the Qhd screen and sense 3.0 are my main reasons for getting the phone.

I wanted this phone to be great! I even have the #4 spot on the Best Buy pre order. Now I am thinking I may wait an extra week or 2 after launch to be able to at least get the GS2 if this phone is as bad as some of the reviews claim :(

is the gs2 coming out this fast, I doubt it. I would say end of july the earliest.

this is just a quick reply since i'm still currently reading every post, but i just had to say that i love your nice little "phone timeline" thing XD its apparent that you were a bit palm fan, and i am guessing that the reason for the sudden jump to android is roughly the same reason as mine: the first running of the Palm Pre phones were kind of a small bust >.<

The thing that alot of you are forgetting here is the fact that this is JUST getting released. Just like EVERY other device ever released, its got flaws at launch. As another poster said, some of these flaws can easily be fixed with an update. I'm nearly willing to bet that within the first week or two, they'll be pushing out an update or two to fix some problems.

In today's world of electronics (specially in the area of mobile electronics), almost nothing is shipped with actual "final" firmware/software. They simply release the stablest build they have at the time of manufacturing, and then they keep working on it more and more until finally when it does launch, they have some hope of fixing some things they weren't able to fix before manufacturing. Almost every phone I've ever gotten at launch always needed updates right from the get go. And after one or two updates, the phones all started to become really good (only exception is my crappy Pre Minus, of which Plam/HP seem to have forgotten about quite a long while ago).

The reviews that any of us will read right now, are reviews of a phone that is only 98% complete, if that. Not to mention, almost every review is biased, no matter how you look at it. I've read quite a lot of them, and not one so far has came across as unbiased. I'm saying this, because in their writing, they constantly have things said like "the micro usb port is sadly uncovered" or "I dont like the feel of the textured backing". Why would it be sad if the port is uncovered? Sure some people like the covering, but some dont because they tend to rip off rather easily. Not to mention if they did have the cover, how would they pull it off aesthetically? (god I hope I spelled that right XD ). And so what if the backing's texture didn't feel right to him/her, it doesn't mean that any of us will feel the same way.

When it comes to a review, the only aspect that we can rely on is the specs area, where there is a definite base line. If its runs fine and performs rather quickly, then its something worth noting. if it doesn't run hardly at all, then again, something to note.

And granted that so far, every review seems to be rather inconsistent, I dont even know if their reviews are worth counting, or if getting a properly working Evo 3D is going to be just some random act of luck. Some say the battery life is absolutely horrible, while others say it lasts for over a day. Some say the camera is the best they've ever seen, while others say its grainy or pixelated. There are those who say the screen looks beautiful and is one of the sharpest and vivid screens they have ever seen on a phone, while there are some that say its horrible and doesn't look right to them. And with the whole 3D aspect, there are some who say that it works wonderfully, while there are those that say they simply just could not get it to work right or that they couldn't stand it. All these things are personal preference most of the time, and my opinion with all this is that either the phone's quality is going to be purely random from phone to phone, or that each reviewer had drastic preferences for their "phones".

No device is perfect and I gotta tell you the Evo 3D has my name all over it and it's waiting for me at Best Buy :p

well said. I think the name is what's throwing peiple...it HAS 3D but what it reallt is is a MUCH better EVO, and the best android phome on the market right now. The 3D is hit or miss it seems, but that's to me expected. I read the BGR review and that's exactly how I feel.

I have always (well since they were both announced) wished that the Sensation was coming to Sprint because I did not care much about 3D. The more I thought about it though I really think that the Evo 3D is the more desirable device.

The battery life seemed to be hurt most by taking 3D photos/videos which I do not anticipate doing much of at all. Plus, any smartphone of this size/quality screen, 4G radio, and a fast processor will not have multi day battery life anyways. I have adapted to be sure that I have a charger at work and one in the car. I would rather charge it when it is convinient than not use it to its potential while worrying about the battery dying.

The OP's statement that there is only little more RAM is an understatement. The jump from 768 to 1024 is a 33% increase in RAM. I consider that a pretty solid increase for a phone.

I would still prefer to not have 3D on the device, but I still would rather have it than the Sensation. Just thinking of the 3D as an added feature to an already great phone rather than a gimmick made me excited to get one again!

Why would you rather not have it? I mean it doesn't hurt the phone to have it and it's always better not to want it and have it then to want it and not have it.

Lol @ not wanting a phone because of an optional feature:D
Keep camera switch on 2d and don't purchase any 3d movies or games

The dual-cameras make the phone a bit heavier and a bit thicker for one. The camera on the Sensation is flush so it would protect the lens cover better than the protruding style on both the Evos. My 4G camera is scratched a bit just from day to day use. The battery increase does not bother me much though unless the 3D really blows me away and I end up using it a lot.

I am excited to try it out for sure, but I see it as something that I would not get a ton of use out of. Unless it really is holding the phone back with 1080p 2D recording (some say yes, some say no) then you are right in saying that there is no harm in having it.

So if you arent buying the 3D for the ummm, 3D, why are you buying it? Why not buy the Sensation or wait a month for the Galaxy S2? From all reviews I have seen, it has the better screen, camera, its thinner and lighter and its way faster.
