So... All day battery life???

Very happy with the battery. First few days I had the phone, I purposely didn't recharge it after I took it off the charger in the morning and still had plenty of juice left at the end of the night. No way would my old S8 Plus have made it through the day without a recharge. Now, I typically pop it on a wireless charger when at work or in my car and I never have to worry about battery life.

Turn off background data for just about every app on the phone, especially with Facebook and you will find that your battery life improves tremendously. There are more things you can do as well but this is the biggest thing that will help now.

Does this stop notifications from coming ?

My battery seems to be getting better daily

I'm still impressed with my battery. Way stronger than my pixel 2xl. I'm not sure why some look to get 24 full hours out of the device when in reality we as humans have to sleep sometime . During any downtime charge it. heck even if it's at 100%. Personally, I find the battery to be fantastic whether it be a low or high usage day...Screenshot_20180905-182226_Settings.jpg

That doesn't seem that good... only 10hrs off charger? I'm at 1d12h and 5h screen time and a similar battery to you.
Actually it's pretty good considering it's mid-heavy usage I do. Compare to my not 8 were I would get 5 hrs of screen time before it dies and with the same usage. If your are getting a day with 5 hours of screentime it means you either doing light usage or your phone has been idle most of the time

This is what I'm getting. Towards 5pm I give it a little charge as I'm afraid it'll die :) no idea if this is good or not. I'd consider it a bit better than my iPhone x......

Definitely better than my 1yr old Note 8 now, but somehow doesn't feel to be much better than when my Note 8 was brand new, maybe just a little

I would never jump through hoops like that with my phone. The device is supposed to serve me, not vice versa. It's not so poorly designed that it drains the battery for no reason. I get great battery life on the Note9 without taking any special power-saving measures. If your battery life isn't good, there's got to be a specific problem causing it. The problem is not the normal default settings of the phone or its apps.

Except Facebook is a known resource hog. Background doesn't matter. I wish they wouldn't preinstall it.

I installed Amazon Kindle, hadn't logged in to any Amazon app yet, and was getting alerts it was using a lot of battery - just 2 hours after starting to setup new Note. So it got uninstalled too.

Note definitely seems to be using much more battery per hour than Essential Phone. Apple is aggressive in killing or 'sleeping' apps but then takes longer to relaunch.

I don't like tweeking settings, but find myself searching to close services and apps. Anything that is always scanning or listening for input. Bixby. GA. Nearby devices. Alerts to changes or notifications.

After having the Note 9 for a week, I'm not overly impressed with the battery life either. It's ok, but it definitely doesn't get through a full day of my particular usage.

This is why I stop all apps from being able to run in the background. There's no reason they need to do anything when I haven't used the phone while I was sleeping. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter some of the worst apps that did this.

Also, those who do use Facebook should go into the apps settings and disable the ability for the app to update itself. It doesn't update itself through the Play Store when it's set to auto and will do it through Facebooks servers instead. There's no telling what's being installed then because it's bypassing Googles safety checks although I'm sure it's safe since it's Facebook but we're still talking about Facebook here who's goal it to do whatever it takes to make money.

If I cen get an extra eight hrs of standby on my phone, I think tweaking the settings is well worth that because it's eight extra hours that I can pick up my phone and use it.

Something is wrong with that Android system eating up 18% of your battery. Mine only uses between 2-3 percent.
I was thinking the same thing! I'm not familiar enough with Android to get in and tinker with the settings though.
