So... All day battery life???

For battery to last longer, please make sure that you are charging it as soon as it touches the below 20% mark, and it should be kept on charge till it reaches 90-92 %

That is what is suggested by most of the articles.

It's a new phone. When all day battery is promised I don't expect 15 hrs with 3 hrs screen on time max.

I dont understand how that is possible.

I don't either. This is battery wise the worst phone I've ever had. Tried clearing the system cache. Removed all but the essential apps. Got everything on battery saving, display at 30% brightness.

I wish I could get anywhere near what you're getting...

When I have 4.5 hrs screen on time that battery use is at 25% approx.

Android system and Android os combined are at 20-22% when the phone is empty after 15 hrs.

There r several apps that can run in the background to cause drain. Don't let those run if you don't use them. My N8 never had more than 20% battery leaving work. This N9 has 50 to 70% so far. I use it as my media device, social, and gaming. No way can I say this device has poor battery life. I learned a long time ago never restore either. My iPhone X proved even apple is susceptible to corrupted backups.

Never restore? I dont have two days spare time to set up my phone.

I don't even game. No social. Sometimes a little video but no more .

Now I dont get 2 days but i do get at the least 6am to midnight. I am a heavy user though. I would download GSM battery and see if there are apps causing it. If not get it swapped. Now some may be setting the phone on some powersave to get 2 days. If I get 12 hrs out of my N9 using it the way I like then I am extremely happy with that. Also look at bluetooth scanning and wifi scanning and turn them off. Another big battery hog is poor network coverage areas. That will kill a battery faster than you ever would think. If you dont game and things of that nature you can use powersave mode just fine. Not every app really needs this horsepower to do what you want. My N8 wasn't even 6mo old and battery needed charging 6hrs after coming off the charger. There are a ton of good videos on YouTube to see how you can save on battery as well. 2% an hr so far today and that's including pokemon play, YouTube, Facebook, forums, Instagram which all hog battery.

Mine does 2% an hour when it is sitting idle on my nightstand as I am sleeping. In use it does 15-20% an hour. Average about 6%.

I have tried all battery monitoring apps. The biggest power use comes from Kernel and Android system.

Exchange is denied by the store. So that would mean 3 weeks out for repair and I'm left without phone because I traded in my old phone.

Look in battery usage and click on android system go into optimize battery usage and see what is there. There is an app using it causing this much battery drain. I have seen that way too many times on android. One app running in the background causing android system to go crazy. Mine is only 1%. My screen uses more.

There are a whole bunch of apps that are 'not optimized' and which I can't enable optimizing for

What apps have you downloaded show up in there? That is where u will most likely find ur battery hog. Facebook has had issue in the past where it updates creating battery drain and has to uninstalled and reinstalled to fix it.

Not one of my downloaded apps is in that list. Only stock Samsung and Android apps.

I don't even have Facebook installed

I hate to say this because I hate doing it myself. Try a factory reset if you haven't already. If that doesn't fix it then you may have a hardware issue causing it.

Battery life is too subjective, so best to compare your own. In my case, my S9+ lasts about the same as my N9 8gb 512gb on Verizon. No always on display and FHD+ on both.

Over 9.5 hrs SOT... 15% left... tickle me pink...

I am happy if I get maybe 4 hrs screen on time. Al I use is Chrome and 10 mins WhatsApp.

Removed all social accounts. Have my screen on 25% brightness. One email account.

Last night I went to bed at 91%. Put it on do not disturb , sync off, woke up 6 hrs later at 77%. Now one hour later another 10% gone with 30 mins use.

Something not right , check the device maintenance app and see if any apps are giving issues
