I behaved rashly earlier this morning and am paying for my actions.
I got some sort of "Special Offer" spam associated with Touchpal this morning along with a Play notice about updated apps.
Somewhat unrelated issues about the wifi here caused much lagging , and well, long story short I stopped and disabled Touchpal.
When the unlock screen came up it would not take fingerprint and just had a Tap to Speak google prompt with password required after restart.
Can't get past the tap to speak.
What to do? reset?

If you need a second keyboard, even for a few minutes, you can go onto Play on desktop and install another one.

Sorry if I was not clear
No keyboard on lock screen, only a Tap to speak prompt. Password required.
Safe mode same.
screen dims as if it does not register touches

My security settings require a password after restart, and it asks for password once a week or so.
I have found that the fingerprint reader needs to be reset about once a month because it is very sensitive to changes.
Although at this moment it is wishful thinking, it would be nice if HTC named their system keyboard something less Pal and more Key.
I would not have touched it without an alternative selected.

Factory reset was the cure.
Is there a list of 'stock Branded apps' that can be disabled without too much consequence?

Mine did the same thing, but I never disabled Touchpal. ( don't use it, don't like it )

Thanks for the heads up on that keyboard ...on my phone I have to put in the passcode in... yeah every once a week or so ...if the phone turns off so... I think I will turn off that security feature.

Edit... Can't find anyway to turn off that security feature...I was going to delete that keyboard... So thanks again.
