so it's decision time

If you can live with your old phone for a while, why not return the Inc and wait for the onslaught of new Android devices that is expected at VZW this summer? The Droid 2 is on the way. Others will follow in short time.

If I had constant problems with my Inc, I would go that route. Fortunately, my replacement device has been very, very good. Have you tried getting a new replacement?

It actually isn't that bad. Somethimges voicemails sound tinny. Battery life isn't great but who cares. I think i'm gonna stick with the INC.

I was looking at an hd2 again today and it's just to big for me. So I assume the evo will be too.

This was a new contract with verizon so I don't really have an old phone to go back to. Well that's not true there is that old alias I had but I think f I return it i'll just choose to end the service.

Do you think they are going to have somethign better than the inc before the first lte phone comes out?

Well, I can only go by what is out in the blogosphere. Everybody writes that VZW is really getting comfortable with Android -- 2 new phones are expected in July (barely 1 month away!).

Verizon Will Have a Hot, Droid-y Summer Thanks to Motorola | Android Phone Fans

Since the Shadow is essentially the Droid 2, I definitely considered returning my Inc (if the replacement had problems) and waiting for the Shadow to drop. That 4.3-inch screen and 720p recording capability sounds good to ME! :D

I think it is very safe to say that VZW will be releasing the kind of new Droids within the year that will make us hate our 2-year contracts. lol.

Well you can upgrade after a year as long as you are at least on the 900 minute plan, right?

You guys are brutal - I read this entire thread and he did nothing wrong as far as information sharing is concerned. You Incredible/VZW folks are the ones who need to lighten up.

I will leave this subject alone after this, but I will say in my defense that I never bashed him for sharing. However, I do have an issue with him holding back on info that may be relevant (Lets see, $10 charge extra on top of you voice/data plan; $5 charge if you want to use Qik video chat; at this point, the front facing camera is showing mirror images; etc.) or even tossing irrelevant information to help his own cause (he mentioned mobile hotspot.. seriously? This is NOT some kind of special 4G feature so what does turning off 4G have ANYTHING to do with it? Another mention to YoutubeHD, which has already been ported to the Incredible; etc). And then MISINFORMATION about Wimax/4G as I already stated within this thread, or that somehow the battery will magically give you 100000+ more hours just because its "bigger." You do realize the fact its bigger is because of many reasons one being that its a TFT screen instead of an AMOLED screen right?

I don't have a problem with someone liking the Evo more, as the Incredible is far from a perfect phone. But do not try to persuade someone with subjective "facts" and not expect for the other side to respond is all I'm saying. I have no issue with him giving out positives of the Evo; its a great phone. But make sure you include the negatives as the OP will also be getting a basket full of those.

My apologies to the OP if this thread was cluttered by posts like this, this will be my last regarding it.

You have got to be kidding me.

About what? The Evo or the guy's post?
He just really needs to read what I said, he's just being defensive, I guess I would get upset if I thought someone was talking smack about my phone, so my bad for pissing you guys off but I will continue to voice my opinions, I never brought up, I'm sorry I never brought up the prices of the features I the OP didn't ask for prices, I'm sorry I didn't bring up the Youtube HD port for the Incredible, I never said the Mobile Hotspot was a 4G feature it clearly works on both, I was just stating the differences between the 2 phones.

Wow, bottom line is the same ole' story. The phone isn't available on Verizon. It fits a different niche than the Incredible and everything else.

Which phone is better? Well that depends on your want or needs, build quality will be pretty much the same between devices, battery life will be comparable between them, service quality depending on where you live and the coverage both provide will be comparable.

The things that's won't be comparable are your wants and needs versus the rest. In the end it's up to you. Do you want Verizon or Sprint service? Do you want a big screen or one .5" smaller? Do you want 8GB of built on memory or only a memory card slot? Do you want dual cameras or will you be happy with the standard single camera setup? Both have Sense, both have Android 2.1, both in the end have pretty much the same software options. However you do get some Sprint apps that will only be on the EVO.

It's all up to what you look for in a phone....MY personal opinion because of the coverage in my area is Verizon, we have 0 coverage for Sprint in this area so it's a no win. Now if the Shadow was available at the same time, or an EVO on Verizon it would be a toss up with me, but I prefer the form factor of the incredible better. It's a much easier, in MY opinion to pocket the Incredible......but watching videos, looking at pictures, and surfing the web will be a bit better on the EVO. Either phone is a win.

I think however I will be wanting a new phone by the end of summer when the new phones come out across all the carriers lol.

Yea it looks sick, I was thinking about getting the Blackberry Bold 9650 but now I might have to wait to see whats up with the MD2

In February of 1984 I bought my first computer. It was a funny looking guy with a 9 inch b&W built in screen, one 3.5" disk drives you couldn't find diskette for, 128k of ram and no hard drive. There was only one printer available and it was $600, likewise a 600 baud modem that you had to have a cable custom made for. People told me I was crazy for buying that first Mac but without it I never would have ventured into the world of high tech. I also was productive immediately, didn't have to struggle learning .DOS and impressed my friends with Mac Paint and that funny mouse thing.

My point is that 26 years later I am still ready to jump in, be an earlier adopter and accept the speed bumps and tribulations that always accompany the latest and greatest. What is good for me my be the worst for you. I never had any serious problems with my Storm 1 and I loaded every leak and tried every CB tweak. Finally came to the conclusion that Android is the now and the future, Google is G-D and after suffering with AT&T,Sprint and T-Mobile that VZW is right for my needs. We will all be talking about something new in 6 months and trying to figure out a way to wangle an early upgrade. That's what we are and that's why we participate in forums. Face it, its a hobby and while it has its practical aspects and daily needs at the end of the day we will never be happy with just making calls, surfing the net and electronic communication. Four weeks ago I was amazed at the speed, brilliance of the screen and efficiency of my new Incredible. I am still enamored and learning something new everyday but it doesn't mean I don't read and think about what's next what will be in my pocket in six months or a year.

We're looking at dual core snapdragon next :-)

Well, today I called Verizon to find out about my return policy asking them what happens if I put in for a replacement which would take a week + to get it and during that week of waiting my 30 days expired would that give me extra time to on my 30 day return policy since I had to wait for the device and they said nope. If I got that replacement and it didn't work to my liking that I was basically screwed since its past 30 days. What a crock of ****. That basically made the decision for me to return my incredible and get a refund. Terrible customer service.

It's not the customers fault that we have to wait for our device to get to us only to have the warranty be pulled from underneath us.

Try working for VZW they treat you worse :-(

That's funny cause I was thinking of applying for a job at one.

As for my phone. I'm PO'D they won't extend my warranty when I have to wait for them to get the device.

I think the point is that the OP never even mentioned the Evo 4G or Sprint. He simply stated he was thinking about returning it and you come barging in her about the Evo when he didn't even ask about it.

Yes you never gave full disclosure of any of the downsides (how convenient!!), but then again you answered none of the OP's original questions to begin with.

Were you helpful?
No.

Did you sidetrack to personal fulfillment?
Yes.

So your telling me that the only difference between the EVO and Incredible is the screen size, please read the whole thread before you voice your opinion.

Please just READ my post before you post.
I try not to read negative post from people with crappy attitudes, thanks though
Its good to know that my opinions bother you more then yours bother me :-)
