So... what color are you getting?

Knowing Samsung they want to be just like Apple and if they do a flat/matte finish it will probably be on the Ultra only. And the regular and the plus will get the glossy finish.

The past half-decade or so it's been Apple copying Samsung, so I kind of doubt this. From design, to phone sizes, to actual components (eg. Samsung displays), Apple has taken its cues from the Android flagship space the past several years, particularly Samsung.

Just looking at this

The black and grey looked quite glossy in the leaked real-life images though. I'm personally ok with either glossy or matte, as long as the metal chassis remains glossy. I think that looks so much more premium.

Here's where I was getting the matte/frosted from. Supposedly a real promo image:

Granted, promo images, even when real aren't the best things to go by. The Aura Glow Note 10+ doesn't really look anything like it's promo images.

Why does that only available in the Ultra version? Is it a ploy to get people to buy the most expensive model? Would love to see the matte on the plus model.

Samsung's official renders are always misleading in terms of material/finish. From S8, Note8, and S10 renders for instance I would have never known for sure that the metal finish is glossy until I saw the actual phone. I could definitely see why you'd think the back glass might be more on the matte side.

If these photos are to be believed, seems the back glass will have a more conventional shine. They're not very high res, so while they look legit I'd also take with a grain or two of salt:

I saw those as well. I’m a big FPT fan so I follow Jern on Twitter. I’d like a frosted finish, but glossy would be fine as well as long as grey and black aren’t truly the only options for the Ultra. I guess we’ll know for sure tomorrow.

Ah ok, so you think there's a decent chance these are fake or doctored? I personally prefer the esthetic of a glossy finish. Just feels a bit more premium to me. But matte is beautiful too when done right. And as long as that metal chassis and trim is glossy, I'm perfectly fine with matte.

I'm not going for the Ultra myself, but tbh I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you that there will be an option other than black or grey for that variant. Maybe a few months down the line when Samsung annoyingly releases a new color they were sitting on at launch.

We'll know in about 14 hours!

I honestly don’t plan on getting any S20. I’m more of a Note fan, but the S Series somewhat dictates what the next Note will have on offer. That’s why I am interested in the S20’s. Well that and I just like wireless tech in general.

Welp, as it turned out, that Cloud Blue did indeed have a color shift as I suspected. Unfortunately it's not as nice as last year's prism colors. Instead, it's just a powder blue version of the Note10's Aura Glow.

Design is decent, but quite disappointed in the color options. The silver lining, however, is that there is a gold S20 Plus Olympic edition coming out this summer! Can't wait for that. Oh, and @msm0511 will be happy to know that Samsung said it would have a "matte finish." I could do without the subtle Olympic logo but it's not very noticeable.

There's also a gorgeous, mirror gold Galaxy Z Flip but apparently it's only coming to "select markets."

Seems Samsung finally listened to everyone wondering why they stopped making gold flagships... only catch is we have to wait til summer for one, and the other might not even come to the U.S.

Long story short, I'm not very excited about the S20 but will probably do a Jump On Demand to the grey version, because that powder blue rainbow (Cloud Blue) is just not doing it for me.

LOL. I'm not an Olympic athlete, and I hate gold.

The cloud blue almost looks like it's in-between prism white from the S10's and aura glow from the Note 10's. I've only seen photos thus far. It may be completely different in videos/person though.

Depends on where I pre-order from. Best buy has the exclusive blue this time like they did for the note 10+ I got. But it only comes in the s20+ model which is the one I wanted anyways. So idk I might change it up and go with the cloud blue this time

best buy will probably have a blue that will be out in a few months after the pre-orders... So I may wait till then or go with the cosmic grey, I like the grey, reminds me of the matte grey color in the car world right now
