Software update is rolling out

I had deleted some bloatware. Are you saying restoring to stock and then trying the update again should work?

I just used the utility. I selected option 1 (flash stock ROM), than 2 (restore stock recovery), than rooted with utility. I than downloaded voodoo root keeper from market and backed up root. I took the update (went fine), ran voodoo again and restored root. I am now on new ROM with the new baseband and everything seems to be working as it should.

Awesome job. Thanks for taking the time for the explanation. Worked perfectly

I did lose root. Never saved my voodoo backup. Motochopper didn't work. At least Bluetooth is working now

@myersjesse, I just tried option 2 to restore the stock recovery and it didn't work. Before I try option one, is your bootloaded unlocked ? Mine is so I'm think it might not work.

Thanks

My boot loader was and still is unlocked.

Worked fantastically. Thank you! I hope the update fixes my issues.

Mine updated but I still have old Google maps and won't update to new.

The apk for the newest Maps version is available at: com.Google.android.apps.maps-7.0.0-700002504.apk. It's working well for me. (This does work when typed in a browser, but didn't work when I used the url link in my AC app.)

I bought a Maxx HD Saturday. The fellow did me a "favor" and updated the phone to 9.20.1. Am I screwed now as far as rooting the phone? Can it be SBF with RSD LIte (or whatever the term is now....been a while) to stock and start from scratch?

@myersjesse, thanks for the information. I just read on XDA that once you restore and then update to 9.18 via OTA, you can not root the phone with Matt's utility...can you confirm this.

Thanks

If you unlocked the boot loader before you took the update I'm pretty sure that there is a way to re-root but I don't think that Matt's utility will help.

If the bootloader is unlocked, you can look for a zip that flashes SU.

For those reading the thread. To take an OTA, the phone must be stock.
1. Bloatware can be frozen but must mot be removed.
2. No custom recovery at all. Stock recovery must be there.
3. No major changes to the file system.
4. You do no need to unroot. The OTA will unroot you. You need to keep root by Voodoo or some other method.
If the bootloader is unlocked getting root back is nothing more complicated than the correct update zip file.

Tech head, I've tried using voodoo to keep root, it says it's backed up a copy of root, I try downloading the update, then go forward with installing, the phone reboots, the android guy pops up and it does it thing for three seconds and then says it failed, and the phone reboots back again but normal way of rebooting.

I learned from my Razr Maxx to not remove the bloatware, and have just froze everything on this maxx hd, but the phone is doing just like my Razr Maxx would do with the bloat removed.

I don't know how in the world you guys that claim voodoo root keeper worked for you, I've never had any luck at it, maybe I'm doing something wrong, who knows.

Looking for a little help. I purchased a phone which had bootloader unlocked. Now that VZW has pushed new software to my device my phone is stuck in a reboot. It powers up and then powers cycles off, booting u[ to a Team Win Recovery Project screen. If I reboot it it does the same thing. Anyone have any assistance on how to get the software update to install and stop the rebooting cycle?

Use this utility. When you run it, do option 1 then option 2. You need a stock recovery to load new update.

Not understanding the finer points of bootloader or rootuser I'll have to explore this over the weekend. I was able to get the phone functioning, saw a zip file sitting in the cache directory that was trying to be loaded (which I'm guessing is the software update file), changing the extension from .zip to .zix and that got the phone to boot up without recycling. Thanks for your response, will explore it this weekend.
