Just received it but haven't noticed any difference. Phone (Nexus 6) is still on 5.0.1.

Same here... Just got the update. Phone is also a Nexus 6... 5.0.1 . Not sure the changes yet either.

Is there a way to get it to check for updates?
Yes. Swipe down from the main watch screen and swipe over to settings. Then scroll to the bottom to you reach About, then scroll down to system updates.

It lies; Just like my phone and tablet, telling me it has the most recent update

Sadly, as mentioned above, if this method fails you there is little way I have found to actually force the update.

Save side loading an OTA or image or anything. I'd just wait it out :) .

Also, this update appears to be mostly bug fixes / stability improvements. Cross-post about the update from sister smartwatch site, Connectedly HERE.

Same here. I looked after reading this thread yesterday and mine said up to date as well on 5.0.1 . Checked again just now once I remembered and there it was. So apparently it just takes a little while for it to find you.

Went to check mine, and it told me I needed to charge. I was at 34%. Seriously, an update requires more than that? After I charged it over 50% then it found and applied the update.

Just looked at it and it is 5.02. Haven't noticed anything but it has been running a little better lately; no dropped connection or other sillyness.

My update showed up yesterday... My watch would freak out about once a week (lock up in a weird way) .. Will see if that still happens.. Expecting a little more stability although generally everything was good already

Part of the update "optimizes" each app.. Not clear what that is, but it sounds good

My first 24 hours on a charge following the update, and battery is at 80%. We'll see if the problem with the screen coming on randomly is fixed.

App optimizing happens with all Android updates. When you install an app from an APK file, Android optimizes the code and stores it in an area called the Dalvik cache, which you can only see if you are rooted. Upon OS update, it reruns the optimization on all of your APKs to take advantage of changes in the new OS.

Since wear devices are running lollipop, presumably they are using ART, not dalvik?

Since this update, mine seems faster generally, or maybe less issues that cause lag (slow processes), anyone else?

That's pretty cool.. Sounds like you are saying that how the code executes (or maybe makes certain calls) can change based on the os version.. Almost like compiling it based on the os version ..?

Since the update my watch has less lag to it. In fact when I scroll the installed programs up/down there is no lag at all anymore.

I just bought mine yesterday and the update still says 4.4w.2 I'm not sure if I just have to wait for it to update eventually.

If you have the Google app up to date on your phone and have the requisite Android Wear and Zenwatch app installed and connecting to the watch, then yes it will find the update.

Everything seems up to date on my phone but my watch is still on 4.4w.2. I wonder if I just need to wait more its been 3 days since I turned the watch on.

No, mine did it as soon as I had it connected to the phone. Have you gone into settings/about on the watch and tried manually updating?
