SOLUTION: No data problem

same problem with lost data connection. Very embarrasing. i rave to my iPhone friends how awesome the Bolt is, then i cant even access the internet to show them. very dissappointed.

Having the same issue as well, looks like i'm going to factory reset, but i would pefer not too.

Mine issues started when i left my wifi at the house on the way to work this morning. The phone is suppose to switch to 3g/4g correct?

I read this over on XDA and it worked for them, just sent this to my friend with Thunderbolts to see if it works for them.

So called Verizon and they had me dial ##778.

-I changed Rev. A to "enable" rather than EPST
-Then rebooted the phone, and data worked again!?!

Thanks, gave it a go, but after the reset, no good, and the Rev. A changed back to EPS

Update: Actullay seems to have worked now, but now i'm having location issues, Foursquare won't find location, but weather, maps do

My two friends with Thunderbolts tried this and it worked! Just remember after you change Rev A to enable to hit the menu button and then commit the changes. This is so much better then telling them to hard reset.

Both me and my friend had this same issue last friday. We did the hard reset fix, but it was cool because we didn't have much on the phones yet anyway. Glad to know there is another way just in case.

Well everyone. I had enough and decided as a last resort to do a factory restore. Thank goodness after using a back up program and only one hour I was able to get everything back to normal. I am also glad to announce that the network switching seems to be fixed. I have been able to switch from 3g to lte flawlessly both manually and by letting the system do it on its own. This cell phone seems to be a pleasure to use now. Hopefully this has put an end to it all. I'll report back if it messes up again.

Which backup software are you using? After the VZW rep did the factory reset on mine, all the apps came back, but not all the settings.

I also did the factory reset. I backed up things first using HTC sync. I was dreading doing this since I thought it would be a nightmare. I was pleasantly suprised. I really did not time it, but I was back up and running in less than 1/2 hour. I did not have many 3rd party apps. Setting up Gmail and Yahoo Mail was a cinch. The best part 3G works flawlessy now. At my house I do not have a 4G signal. I am going to dirve around to test out how it switches from 3G to 4G. This is the upteenth time I have changed my mind about whether to keep the TB or not. If it still working by Thursday, I am keeping it. I really like the TB for a lot of reasons. (fingers crossed again) OH BTW when I set up WIFI it worked immediately, much different first time I tried. I have encryption on and the TB asked for the network key and BLAM connected immediately

I used My Backup Pro. I saw there was a free version which was really a 30 free trial but some of the options where excluded. I know there are others. I don't think this is the thread to discuss it so I kept the answer brief. Sorry Moderator.

Oh, also. It has now been 24 hours since I did the factory rest. All is working awesome. I may even be getting better battery life now. Not 100% sure on that one yet but I will let you know later. Seems to be though.

By the way. If you do it, remember, the blockbuster fix needs to be redone and also had to remove cityID again.

Also had the same issue as another poster, lost network when I left for work this morning. Tried this solution, and it worked for me. (Though Rev. A was set to EPRL or something not that was not EPST, nor was EPST in the list) As previously mentioned, don't forget to hit menu and commit changes.

I emailed htc on a data connection issue and got this reply.

With regards to network hopping - basically the device flips between no data connectivity and 4g/3g. We have been escalating these cases as needed for further analysis as well. In almost all cases, the carrier, being Verizon, has been able to reprovision the SIM card which should fix the issue. If your issue is not fixed by this method, we would like to have your issue escalated, and we would be happy to contact you by phone to perform all the necessary steps and then escalate the issue as required. We do have some examples of this issue at our escalations desk currently, and are working with the developers to narrow down the cause and find a solution as quickly as possible.

Simce I called VZW and had the " reprovision the sim card " I have had no problems with data connection and my battery life almost tripled.

Thanks for this, I am getting so frustrated with the wifi to 3g, 4g to 3g switch. I hope this works!

I had Data dropout today, out of now where it just stopped. The only reason I knew was I got a error message when receiving a picture via MMS. I restarted the phone and it worked for me.

We need a OTA....sigh

So far so good with the ##778 settings, i defintely think the phone is getting exactly where i want it to be. only a few more issues to fix and ill be good.

I had the same issue as well a twice now. I rebooted the first time and all was well. The 2nd time it did it I put it in airplane mode and then cycled it back and everything was fine again.

I'm on my second TB now. Purchased 3-17 and all was well service wise. I noticed the 3g, 4g, 1x going back and forth. It really doesn't do this quick enough for my liking. What I mean is my serious frustration was that data would drop out completely for 20+ seconds at a time. In any and all combinations the phone would go 3g, 4g, 1x, data drop for 20+ seconds. The order is random both moving 70mph or 0 mph (stationary). Multiple reboots and battery pulls. I tried to go with it for while. My battery life was 2 hours or less. I got the Phone Info app to try and disable 4g and it sure did. The issue still happened. Only difference was no 4g but just 3g, 1x, data drop in any combo again 70mph or 0 mph. I tried a factory reset and got the same results exactly with and without Phone Info turning 4g on and off. I got a ticket escalated with VZW and they claimed local techs tests showed no issue with 4g in my area.

On 3-25 I drove from Orlando to Jax which was 100 miles. Same exact results with and without 4g again all up and down Florida's coast. Back in Orlando at 10pm I no longer got 4g with or without Phone Info turning 4g on and off. No 4g in the exact same coverage 7 mile radius. 3-26 at 7pm, I could no longer make or receive calls. Battery pulls didn't help. Factory reset and voice service was back.

3-30 I brought the phone to Best Buy but they wouldn't exchange claiming known ##778# work around (which never worked for me). VZW tier 2 called me to follow up on my trouble ticket and told me to demand an exchange as ##778# was not fixing all phones.

4-2 I got an exchange without issue and got a new SIM. I tried ##778# but that did not fix the issue and I still have 3g, 4g, 1x, data drop in any order!!!

ANY IDEAS???!!!???!!!

I'd like to know the following:
1. If they reprovisioned the SIM since they gave me a new one.
2. If the "reprovisioning the SIM" is bull**** or VZW phone support scrambling to try anything that works (shotgun approach).
3. What the REAL ISSUE.
4. What else I could try??!!??!!

I had the same problem with data connection.. I live in a 4g area but the first couple of days I had my phone the signal would drop in and out. The #778 did work for me but that also turns off the ability to do voice and data at the same time. I also noticed that randomly my weather location shows a different city and the only way to correct it is to pull the battery.
