I've both climbed and skied Mt Baker. Actually, have been up all five of our Volcanoes. Adams twice and St Helens before and after eruption. Adams is the hardest to drive to and Glacier Peak the most inaccessible - long hike in and drive.Great shots! The one of the sailboat in the distance is cool.![]()

JUBILEE
Spirituals are the very foundation, the root of all the great music that we know and love today.”
– Tazewell Thompson (Creator & Director)
Created and directed by Tazewell Thompson
Vocal arrangements by Dianne Adams McDowell
Orchestrated by Michael Ellis Ingram
A world premiere opera. Not long after Emancipation and the end of the Civil War, the historic Fisk Jubilee Singers came together and changed music forever. Telling the story of the ensemble's early members, this opera—which includes over 40 African American spirituals—follows them on their first tours, raising funds for the fledgling Fisk University and spreading their music around the world. From threats of violence to a pivotal performance for Queen Victoria, the singers share their personal histories through powerful vignettes full of humor, heartbreak, and hope.
Featuring an enduring storyline by renowned writer and director Tazewell Thompson (Blue ’22), Jubilee showcases 13 singers performing spirituals such as “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot,” “Balm In Gilead,” “Deep River,” “Go Down, Moses,” “On Ma Journey Now,” “Wade In The Water,” “Steal Away,” “Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel,” and many more. Originally conceived, written, and performed by enslaved peoples these powerful and popular pieces have been an integral part of American music throughout history.
It was a brilliant production.

Called the International Fountain. From The World's Fair back whenever! As is the Space Needle and, I guess, much of Seattle Center. The Opera House was shared with the symphony for many years and the Ballet. It is still shared with the Ballet. Symphony moved to a new hall downtown.I like that fountain.![]()
The glassware is a perfect match with the trees.
Yup, was I walked past it yesterday morning it was like - OKAY, I need to take a few shots. In real life the foliage was more popping. Depth of field through the window and screen detracted somewhat. The glassware is a perfect match with the trees.![]()
Very nice pics.
Nice shots! The Great Blue Heron is impressive.More Golden Gardens and Shilshole on today's bike ride. Good clouds and calm reflective water.

Yum! Looks good.It is the monthly potluck at gym in the morning. Frankly I was not really in the mood but guilt prevailed. A friend's apples and a quick Apple Crisp.

Pot luck at the gym. That's a new one. Makes me think of my dentist. She always has freshly baked cookies at the reception desk!![]()
Now I get it, what a fun idea! You must have a great group of people at your gym.AFTER the workout. Some folks ruin all the fun and bring veggies! One guy makes his own pop tarts. One guy who is married to a Chinese woman brings Congee quite regularly - very good and makes me regret that when I was in China for two weeks I never even tried the stuff. There was so much more interesting items than "porridge."
The idea is to socialize without the sweat.
I rarely make crisps. I go for more elaborate baked goods. And I won't know if delicious or not till we break into it. I skipped the nutmeg and added cardamom.
