Sometimes I lose icons

Sometimes my Droid X loses icons. I'll open a folder or look at a home screen and find an icon showing a generic screen with a gear on it instead of what it should be. Any idea why this happens and how to fix it?

A reboot can sometimes correct it, but is just about as likely to make it happen to other apps on the device. Is the SD card maybe corrupted?

I've also noticed that the car dock will frequently just forget what I put in the "Add App" slot.

i too lose apps! like for instance angry birds will just disappear and a few other then i reboot and they show back up, over time they will leave again and i will go to market and they show downloaded and i can open them from there until i have to reboot again to get them to come back! anybody know the cause or a solution?

I have the same issues. But only when they are in folders or on the desktop. Any solutions would be great. It is kind of annoying.

Whenever I lose an icon its because the affected app was updated and it got moved to the sd card during the update. If you move it back to the phone, the icon returns. I have had this happen with Angry Birds after each update.

That's interesting. I just had this happen with my Flixster application. I couldn't find it on one of my homescreens and when I looked in the app store, it said that it was installed. I just deleted the app and installed again. Seems like it is a bug.

Moving the app back to the phone from the sd should fix this.
