I was downgrade... I mean "upgraded" to Android 15 yesterday on my Xperia 1V and YouTube started becoming extremely laggy to the point it would give an unresponsive error and close out. Looking around online, it seems like Sony really borked something regarding that and some other apps (in addition to ruining the notification shade layout and hurting how notifications are treated). I did find a couple of workarounds on other sites for other users that may be in the same place.

Option 1: Add YouTube to the Game Enhancer app and set it to performance preferred. This is something everyone can do, but you'll have the Game Enhancer icon overlay on the screen whenever you are using YouTube (including full screen viewing).

Option 2: Turn on the developer mode options and search for "Disable HW overlays" in the dev options search bar. Find that option and turn it on. Not everyone may feel comfortable going into those settings, but it gets YouTube running smooth without the Game Enhancer icon being shown.

That’s super helpful, thanks for sharing both workarounds 🙌. I had the same issue on my Xperia and the “Disable HW overlays” option fixed it for me too. For anyone who’s also a student dealing with performance drops while studying, I’d also suggest saving study notes offline — I use docudown to grab resources from Studocu so I don’t have to rely on laggy apps while multitasking.
