Sorry GUYS, I wasn't even on the boat to "jumpship"

I played with the Samsung Galaxy for sprint and it's a great phone but looking at the the layout reminded to much of an iphone and that turned me off pretty quick. Hey it is a great screen though, tough decision for some but easy for me. I am happy to have my EVO.

When and where did you play with a Samsung Galaxy for Sprint? Was it not the S or the S Pro?

But I digress... I have not kicked any dirt over or onto the EVO outside of stating the obvious, that I have been placed on a 2 week long waiting list for a phone, that didn't sell quite as well as we were led to believe (now that was some more dirt). I am not angry, or upset, just anxious to get something, namely because I promised my old TP2 to my 16 year old, LAST week...

I will go ahead and get my EVO, and just trade it back in for the Galaxy S Pro, in a month, when that bad boy is released... I am a solid Ipod Touch user, and love the one I have, so I am fine using a non-physical keyboard... i will appreciate having the best of both worlds with the Galaxy S.

I have had HTC phones, now, for the past 5 years starting with the PPC-6700, ten the Mogul, then the Touch Pro, and now the Touch Pro 2, so I don't mind the build quality... Same goes for Samsung... My wife has had a couple of the "dumb phones" and if it can stand up to the licking and ticking that she gives them, their build quality is fine for me as well.

I just feel like, the the Galaxy S is a better phone. I understand everyone who has their brand or carrier loyalty... that is understandable. But my mind was made up... get an EVO and hold it until either Sprint gives way and announces and Iphone. When the Galaxy S Pro was announced that was it for me... I became instantly in love... and its not hard to fall in love, when, from Launch Day 1, there has been a steady and continual out pouring of complaints here in the forums and bad news on the News sites about the EVO...I can't remember a more maligned phone every showing up, like this... and to put it bluntly... it is very much off putting...

So I have made my choice... I know what I wnat and what I love...

In away you did kick dirt when you came into the EVO forum to tell us all why you don't like the EVO and are in love with the Galaxy S, I'm not knocking you I think there both great phones I'm just saying you had to expect this reaction when you posted the original comment.

I know there is no thread for the Galaxy but that doesn't mean you have to start a thread in the EVO forum to tell us why your in love with the Galaxy as previously stated I'm happy he/she found a phone that will meet he/she's needs but when you post a thread like this in a forum for another phone you have to expect to get hated on a little, right or wrong you have to expect it to happen. I love the EVO but I also think the Galaxy is a cool phone to each there own I'm not gonna tell anyone how to spend there hard earned money that's there decision I'm just happy to have them in the Android family.

Geez people, this isn't religion. If the man prefers the Samsung, he prefers the Samsung. It's not like you have to try to convert him to your "religion." I really do like physical keyboards, so if it hits the shelves before my 30 days on the Evo are up, I'll check it out. But I'm getting better with the EVO's keyboard, so unless I see a compelling advantage I'll probably stick with it.

I agree 100%. Let's not be nut-huggers. Some people just plain prefer iPhone, Incredible, or whatever. However I think I'd respect the OP a lot more if he didn't act like he discovered the solution to global warming in every post. Congrats, you read a tech blog.

I couldn't care less what phone you buy or use, but I have to comment on the above. I think you're way off base here. EVERY smart phone gets barraged with these kind of complaints when it comes out. The whining about the Pre when it was introduced put this forum to shame. Before that, the Palm treo forums were full of complaints, but they're a fanboy's delight these days.

Have you ever spent much time on any of the iPhone forums? They're full of complaints and whines, until someone comes on and suggests another product might be better, at which point the iPhone is suddenly almost perfect.

Face it, these forums exist mainly so that people can complain. People don't join forums to say "Wow, I been using this phone for a week, and have had no problems at all!" No, those people just use the phone. People mainly post when they have a problem.

I think the problems reported are relatively few, compared to many other devices. There seem to be plenty of issues posted here with the Moment, too. (I was seriously considering buying one, until I came here and read the forum.) I've had no problems with my EVO, but I didn't start a thread to tell everyone about that.
