Sorry GUYS, I wasn't even on the boat to "jumpship"

I don't like AMOLED, mostly because I like using the phone outside.

Welcome to Android anyway, we're all family here! :p

but the galaxy fixes the outside issue because they use super AMOLED, which is the answer to the poor outside performance for amoled screens. :D

Galaxy?

1. ugly
2. no HTC Sense or HTC build quality/design
3. i hate sliders
4. i hate side keyboards
5. thick?

The Galaxy is surprisingly thin. However....it looks just like an iPhone, hardware, screens and all. Yuck...

I am still stuck with an LG Dare, is terribly sad I know. My 2 year contract is up in febuary with verizon.

I have been watching the Evo for months, but I am open to whichever is my best option come time to switch to sprint. So far, I am liking the Galazy S Pro, the added keyboard for games would be very nice.

I know it may be hard to believe, but yeah, HTC build quality is pretty decent. There are bound to be bad copies of any device, but all the HTC devices I've seen have all been top-quality with great design.

As for Sense, I like it. A lot. HTC did a great job with it. I'm sure vanilla Android is cool, but I like the value-add Sense gives.

I've had Samsung phones. Good quality hardware with meh software. I would assume their custom home screens/launcher will be meh as well (at best).

Just my opinion.

I'm staying with the evo because after having the moment I can see samsung doesn't really give a dam about there phones after the release. nine months since the moments release and radio still locks up. I see them doing the same with this phone.

built-in 8 gigs or 16 gigs of storage is the "below the Belt-line" punch to many other phones...

Is it? Because it seems like having a 32gig card>>>>8 or 16 gigs built in. When I was a Pre owner, people were crying left and right that 8gig built in was paltry.

Supposedly. Based on other attempts to fix the issue, I wouldn't hold my breath.

however steve over at allaboutsymbian just received a samsung wave (i believe) whish uses the super amoled and during last weeks podcast compared it to a few others and said it makes a good improvement where its now visible in sunlight. its not PERFECT, but it does make it now usable. super amoled removes one of the layers and combines the touch layer into the glass.

*SIGH* once again, for the masses... It has 8 or 16 gigs built in, AND a Micro-SD card slot for memory EXPANSION... That means you can have a total memory configuration of 8-48 gigs...if need be... So it is like an IPHONE with memory expansion.

Geez people, this isn't religion. If the man prefers the Samsung, he prefers the Samsung. It's not like you have to try to convert him to your "religion." I really do like physical keyboards, so if it hits the shelves before my 30 days on the Evo are up, I'll check it out. But I'm getting better with the EVO's keyboard, so unless I see a compelling advantage I'll probably stick with it.

I agree with you but then again he did choose to post in the EVO thread, so what did you think was gonna happen we were just gonna sit idle while he kicks our beloved phone in the dirt lol :p

But I digress... I have not kicked any dirt over or onto the EVO outside of stating the obvious, that I have been placed on a 2 week long waiting list for a phone, that didn't sell quite as well as we were led to believe (now that was some more dirt). I am not angry, or upset, just anxious to get something, namely because I promised my old TP2 to my 16 year old, LAST week...

I will go ahead and get my EVO, and just trade it back in for the Galaxy S Pro, in a month, when that bad boy is released... I am a solid Ipod Touch user, and love the one I have, so I am fine using a non-physical keyboard... i will appreciate having the best of both worlds with the Galaxy S.

I have had HTC phones, now, for the past 5 years starting with the PPC-6700, ten the Mogul, then the Touch Pro, and now the Touch Pro 2, so I don't mind the build quality... Same goes for Samsung... My wife has had a couple of the "dumb phones" and if it can stand up to the licking and ticking that she gives them, their build quality is fine for me as well.

I just feel like, the the Galaxy S is a better phone. I understand everyone who has their brand or carrier loyalty... that is understandable. But my mind was made up... get an EVO and hold it until either Sprint gives way and announces and Iphone. When the Galaxy S Pro was announced that was it for me... I became instantly in love... and its not hard to fall in love, when, from Launch Day 1, there has been a steady and continual out pouring of complaints here in the forums and bad news on the News sites about the EVO...I can't remember a more maligned phone every showing up, like this... and to put it bluntly... it is very much off putting...

So I have made my choice... I know what I wnat and what I love...

I played with the Samsung Galaxy for sprint and it's a great phone but looking at the the layout reminded to much of an iphone and that turned me off pretty quick. Hey it is a great screen though, tough decision for some but easy for me. I am happy to have my EVO.
