Sorry LG. The s8+ got me.

Its nice to see g6 to s8 to G6...
Iam happy to see G6 do well coz LG really made a awesome phone this year... My G6 in my hands totally loving it and best part it's dual sim with 64gb storage and hifi dac
Ah so you got the different version then most here on the site (no 64 and no quad DAC).

At the end of the day you look for this in a phone: call quality, speakers, photography, form factor, brightness of screen, battery life, ease of use, durability, expandability and maybe waterproofing.
After having the s8 plus...I was very disappointed...grieved even on how the phone just didn't live up to many of the expectations I listed. This one, the g6, though not perfect is pretty close imho.
I'm happy!

I'm the opposite of you. I get all you mentioned and more out of my S8. Beautiful screen, great battery life, Samsung Pay, 64gb of storage and more.

My G6 is great as well. That's what's great about Android. Everyone can get what they need.

Yep. I think I only miss Samsung Pay

Yep LG pay will be a perfect replacement for Samsung pay. Can't wait because that is one feature I really enjoyed using.

I have the platinum model, and I have zero scratches on the camera. I have kept mine in a case, but I just got a screen protector. Thus far, the front and camera survived scratch and mark free some time with my tungsten carbide wedding ring.

When I do the dishes in the sink or do something unpleasant, I will put my wedding ring in my pocket, usually my phone pocket because I hate it when it get's stuck on my keys. One day, I left my ring and phone in the same pocket (no case this day no screen protector yet). I was out doing yard work with them together, chasing my son, threw it in the hamper until my wife was doing laundry and pull them both out..

Not a scratch or mark despite several hours with a LOT of contact. Tungsten Carbide Steel is stronger than surgical steel. I have ground down handles with it, scratched all measures of surfaces from concrete to steel, paint, whatever. I figure I have a fair amount of luck here, but I am still very pleased with the quality of the phone.

EDIT: You know that feeling you get when you replay to a post on page 2 that's like two weeks old...yeah, feeling that!

Re: RIDICULOUS - scratches so easily !

LG is going to have a big problem on their hands. Attached are photos of my friends LG G6. She takes decent care of her devices. Doesn't drop them. This is crazy !!!!!! View attachment 257855View attachment 257856View attachment 257857
You call that a taken care phone ? LooL you want me to send you pictures of my phone.. This phone is not taken care of.. Scratches from keys, table it looks rough.. Your friend should consider to requstion her perception of the meaning taken care of lol...

Re: RIDICULOUS - scratches so easily !

You guys should just admit that it isn't made as well as it could be. The scratches on the camera cover are a known issue.

Haven't seen alot of threads around here that shows this, also mine has a scratch but it dosen't show on the image so no worries there even if it is an issue.

Bought the LG g6 first. Liked it a lot. But it seems slow and the camera really leave a lot to be desired. Ordered an s8+ to try out and instantly fell in love today. The curved screen isn't as big a deal as I thought it would be. Sorry LG!!!

Like a homeless guy once told me, don't be sorry. They are both excellent phones, it all comes down to preference and user type. Samsung is best for those who simply want a solid performer, no frills. Though there are some quirks that make people shy away from the S8. For example: the curved screen vs flat or dual cameras vs single (but great dual pixel camera).

What about Android pay?

Never had Samsung pay do I don't know how they stack up.

Samsung Pay is accepted at ANY TERMINAL that has a credit card scanner. It could be a credit card scanner from the 80's or 90's. Technically called MST (MAGNETIC SECURE TRANSMISSION), it mimics the magnetic strip on credit/debit cards and the card scanner reads it as a credit card. Each transaction is tokenized, so the merchant does NOT have full information of your credit card info, instead the number is auto generated per transaction, making fruad less likely to happen. Only issue is some small mom and pop stores still don't believe it and will give you a hard time. Same goes with stubborn restaurants workers who think they own the restaurant. "I'm sorry, we don't take that here" .."Yeah you do, watch." Scans it any way and it works. Worker is shocked in disbelief.

Android Pay is like Apple Pay, only accepted at very small number of locations. It uses NFC, which is only accepted at certain places that have it.

People complained for years that the plastic was cheap and didnt feel premium. Then they went to metal and people complained it scratched and dented. Then people wanted wireless charging so glass came into play to accommodate it. We complain, eventually get what we want, then complain we want what we had back with all the new features lol. Its a viscous cycle.

Don't think plastic is coming back anytime soon. Manufactures are banking on broken devices, charging users for new phones or repairs. User will have to upgrade eventually with the sealed battery, battery will ultimately die within 2-3 years or so. Profit is going up for them. A plastic phone that can withstand a beating and the battery replacable? (Ahem, Nokia bar phone) User will hang on to that phone for years...
