sound and vibration problems

Ok so I'm used to iPhone majorly only had a Samsung s6 for about 3 months I do enjoy it. But I am having a few annoying problems.

1) I set my phone to vibrate but while in my hand I get a text and no vibration or anything.

2) I can litteraly crank the volume on my notifications and I make sure my toggle is set to sound. But again. Nothing happens.
