I have a custom ringtone use every so often I will hear a strange ring then when I check my setting
my saved ringtone has changed on its on to something else , has anyone else ran across this ? Is there a fix ?

I guess I'm not the only one then. It seems to be affected by either a reboot(occasionally) , or swapping out to another home screen launcher app. if I don't do either of those things it is unaffected. I know of no fix.

It is a little odd when you tell someone their phone is ringing only to be told it is yours. LOL

Where are you putting your notification sounds? I found that mine work good if they are on my Ext-SD card in a Notifications folder, and I created a Ringtones folder to hold my ringtone notifications.

All my custom tones go on my sd card. So the stock oem tones which are the ones reverted back to are not. Hmmm...so putting these also on sd may help. that's a thought. is this do-able? Going to check into it.
EDIT: had another thought, since I never use them can they just be deleted? I'm rooted. Gonna check this possibility out as well.

This is a major issue with me. Most of the times I don't even get a sound even though one is selected. If you re boot it will work for awhile then stop again.

Rooted is totally different... or at least was when I was on my Thunderbolt... I'd put them with all the other Ringtones and Notifications under /System/Media/Audio then Ringtones or Notifications, and then be sure the permissions are set to 777.

My custom notifications are on my SD card. However I am not sure what folder they are in at this point.

Connect it to a PC and turn on USB Mass Storage... then open a Window's Explorer window and find the correct drive, and check.

I too am having this problem. I have a non-rooted stock droid razr and have had it for about 1 month. I also have Zedge. It just started a few days ago. One day my ringtone was different and I just thought I must have inadvertently changed something, but now this morning all of my notifications are changed, my alarm sounds are changed and my ringtone is changed. I did not inadvertently do that! lol When it happens it is changing to music that I have downloaded onto the phone from my pc. I recently set up my Motocast and the enabled wireless transfers. I also recently downloaded different things from the net. I'm wondering if this could be a bug? Just a week or so ago my screen quit auto rotating and I researched that and found that it was a "bug" and now this. Wondering if they might be related??? Anyone find the cause or a fix for this yet?

I am sad to see that this problem still exists. My brother has the razr maxx also and just had his sounds change on him.

This has been going on since droid X, it is nothing new. I just ordered a razr maxx thinking motorola might have fixed this problem by now. I am dissappointed and may cancel the order now.

Go back and search, droid x is where this problem started. What has not been determined yet is, whether it is a motorola issue or android OS issue. The ones that had HTC's or other androids, did you have this issue?

I wanted to get locked into unlimited 4G before verizon pulls same crap as AT&T and wont grandfather unlimited 3G to 4G. Question is do I get this and live with it till, well you know what comes out with 4G, or just forget about it and risk losing unlimited 4G in future. Either way I am sure I will go back to the bad phone as you guys would say when they release the 4G version. I guess I can live with it for a few months, its like an investment.

I have had the Razr Maxx for about 1.5 months now and it does this on mine too. Mainly the phone ringtone changes. It does it all the time. The notification ringtone has only done it once I think. I had an HTC Incredible before this phone. It never did this one time.

i've been having this same issue. also every now and then my phone inadvertantly switches to "voice commands" and asks out loud to "say a command" and flips the screen upside down. very weird. it's totally random when it happens to.
