Spaceline notification playing before ringtone

I have noticed that when my phone rings from a Viber call, the spaceline notification ringtone will play first before the Viber Ringtone. How to fix this? This is literally driving me up the wall. I have tried everything.

Welcome to Android Central forums. I have a few questions before we are able to help you.

What device do you have?

When you say "spaceline notification" do you mean that another sound is played before the sound from the app is played?

Have you looked at the Viber forums for answers? Here is the link to the Viber Q&A page... https://help.viber.com/en/ Here you're hoping someone just knows and maybe has the app. There at their forum they all use the app, someone has likely already had the issue, if there is a solution this is the most obvious place to look for answers.

Please also include any information that may be helpful in your reply.


Off hand without really knowing what your issue is it sounds like you are getting a brief notification sound just before the app realizies that it's a call and begins ringing. If this is correct there are two solutions I can think of. First not very practical is to set your notification sound to silent. This means you will also not get notifications from other apps. It may also be possible to turn off the notifications for the Viber app. Press and hold the Viber app icon until a small menu appears. Tap the (i) and it will open the app page for that app. Under notifications disable the sound or disable the notification for calls and then see if it still happens. I don't know if this will cause the app to not alert to any activity or if it will just affect the notification before the ring. Like I said we need to know more to really help beyond guessing.

Welcome to Android Central! Another possibility is that there's some other Viber notification that's being triggered at the same time the Viber call comes in. Go to Settings>Apps, select Viber, then Notifications, and show us a screenshot: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ge...ide-how-post-screenshots-android-central.html. (You'll need to register here first.) Then we can look through the notification categories and see if there are any that are worth toggling off as a test.

I just recently got the Samsung flip 4. Yes that is correct when I receive a call on viber, the phone first plays a notification called "spaceline" from Samsung before the default ringtone of Viber.

I already tried disabling the Viber notifications but that just causes the app to move into mute mode and the phone doesnt alert me through sound when I receive a call on viber.

Is the Viber app actually called "Messages" in the app list? Can you instead go to Settings>Apps, select Viber there, then Notifications>Notification Categories, and show us that screenshot?

In your previous post where you say if you turn off notifications it silences everything coming from the app, did you mean when you completely choose to silence the app or even if you only disable the call notification or the result is the for either?

The only other thing that springs to mind, which doesn't solve the issue but may hide in a way, would be to change either of the sounds to match the other.

It silenced the call notification only. Don't know where the spaceline sound is coming from so can't change that

Maybe as a test, toggle off all of those categories EXCEPT Calls and see if that extra notification tone still sounds.

I have tried everything. My friend has a 22 ultra and I noticed that his phone does the same thing for Viber calls

What about settings>general management>reset>reset settings

Also settings>apps>3 dots upper right corner tap>reset app preference

Sigh. I was nervous about doing this but I detest that spaceline notification sound so tried it. Didn't work
