Speaker crackling on Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime

I have a Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime (also called the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Plus) and I noticed yesterday that the external speaker began crackling while I was typing a message to someone. The crackling sound persisted for a few minutes. I purchased this phone brand new a month ago and it just started having the speaker crackling issue. Is it possible the speaker could be trying to fail already?
