speaker issue

So I just got a nexus 4 and I love it. But the external speaker does not work, so no music or ringtones or alarms will work. Do you guys think this is a hardware issue or a software issue in lollipop? Any help would be great. I have tried wiping the cache and then I tried a factory reset but still nothing. Should I try going back to kit kator just getting a new speaker?

It's new and doesn't work - have it replaced.

So I replaced the speaker and still no sound? Should I try another speaker, or does anybody have another suggestion.
