speaker works for alarm but not for outputting music/phone call sounds/etc

As the title states -- my phone will play sound out the speaker when my alarm goes off but other than that - nothing else will be outputted.

Example i wake up and my alarm goes off, i try to make a call and the other person cant hear me and i cant hear them - cant even hear the dial tone. play music? nothing.

If i swipe my phone to unlock? sure i hear a sound.

is there a certain setting to fix this or some file that got corrupted?

ps no im not stupid and all my sound volumes are all the way up

My daughter is having similar problems on her ET4G. I hope we can find the problem (or, at least, a fix).
