Still waiting on my phone delivery but I'm watching videos on how to use smart switch and noticed people don't mention these items:
1.do you connect new device to wifi 1st?
2. Do you put sim card in before using smart switch?
3. New devices usually try to get you to set up everything... do you just not do any of that? Just literally use smart switch 1st?
Thanks. Never have used smart switch before so just don't know.

1 - Yes
2 - Sign in to your new device and follow the screen as to how you want to transfer

Depends on what you have on your phone. It can take up to 1 1/2 to get it all done.

I recommend using your OLD sim. Not need to call in to activate. Are you switching from older Note?

Yes switching from note 9. I'm gonna connect to wifi, install new sim and then do smart switch right?

If you have not done it yet. Enable Samsung cloud backup. This will back up everything like messaging, home screen, and all the apps configuration. It's like you never left when you're done transferring from old to new.

Smart switch also gives you the option of wifi or wired transfer, I did wire, cones with your new phone...easy peasy.

Also recommend backup via settings to your Samsung account, backup of your launcher screen/layout/settings, backup of whatsapp data too if you use that app.

There's always a few things that fall through the cracks as it did for me, yet nothing that's stopping me from normal daily use.

This new phone is very impressive in many ways, less than 16 hours of use thus far though.

Good luck!

How do I enable samsung cloud backup?

How do I enable samsung cloud backup?

Log into your Samsung account on your old phone and go to settings. Search "Samsung Cloud". Then you backup everything on your old phone.

Log into your Samsung account on your new phone and search "Samsung Cloud" in the settings menu. You can choose the restore option.

I am going to do this with my Samsung calendar when I get the S21 Ultra as Smart Switch seems to be sketchy when transferring the calendar.
